Title: Spikes/shoe recommendations
Post by: Burdy on March 26, 2014, 03:12:10 PM
In the market for a pair of new spikes/shoes anyone recommend any?

Must be able to have full spiking and not half spiking.

I'm normally tight as a ducks rear normally. I'm looking at up to £80 max if I'm honest. I've always normally used asics but open to suggestions. I've seen that new brand called W3, and to be honest they are not my cup of tea.

I found a pair of Asics Gel Strike Rate for £40 last winter. Have to say they took a bit of getting used to whilst batting, but in the field they are wonderful. So much cushioning.

Maybe too much cushioning for batting, I like to feel the ground, a la Converse type thin sole.

I like the look of them, specially the red ones as it would go with club colours. I'm sure the cushioning wouldn't last that long with me.

I've gone for New Balance myself. They are very good quality and very lightweight and they're generally cheaper than Asics. Well worth a look.

Can't go wrong with Nikes. I haven't worn another cricket shoe since I got my Lunar Dominates last season.

I have good stock of Nike, Asics, New Balance and Adidas in size 11, free delivery on all orders.

If you're going puma, go to a shop and try them on first. From experience they can vary either way by a 1/2 size. You might be fine, but I'm just saying how they were for me.
