Report on the BBC news website is that the Supreme court of India, are going to ban CSK and RR from IPL 7. About bloody time too! The whole organisation seems to be as bent as the soviet sickle!
-
Yea and one of its proposal is to throw out N Srinivasan - current BCCI chief and get Sunny Gavaskar as interim President
-
Just proposals I think, another thing seeing it happen. Probably just see a "change" in management of those teams on paper.
Don't think the name of that cricketer in the sealed envelope will be revealed either.
-
I am so happy that this is happening. Needed something done about the current administration, although from reports it looks like that they are still trying to find ways to retain power :O
Hoping they clean up, imagine BCCI run by Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid & Kumble!! Shastri can stick to screaming on TV
-
Think i saw on twitter that the "proposals" will be confirmed tomorrow (in whatever shape or form). IPL for all its glamour and financial clout must surely be feeling the strain from this, i wonder if players will begin to think twice apart participation, although i suspect the finanical reward still outweighs the risk. I assume as its an auction for players if a team wins the bidding you have to play there, even if you have grievances or reservations for playing for its owners and their (alleged) dodgy dealings?

The judge who wants to ban Dhoni would be akin to the judges who jail mafia heads!
He'd get shot.

Is this a case of 'And though I die, the BCCI lives on'?
-
Seems supreme court is serious this time around. They put the chairman of sahara india (a large business group with a market cap of around $26 billion) behind bars for not complying with its orders.
In comparison, N Srinivasan and his cohorts are a piece of meat :D :D

It would be really tough if it's somehow proved that Dhoni is also involved in this latest saga. What are the odds that your owner is involved in fixing games and you, the captain are not involved (or have no knowledge of)? I'd say very slim.

sadly, I think someone will be proven to be corrupt and most of the other big wigs will be too. I am under no illusions that there are plenty of 'fixed' games and things within the sport.. same as other sports. It's just a sad state of affairs now that money means more than the game. Ultimately it's the 'fans' who suffer because who do you trust? what team do you trust? what result do you trust?

Would be careful mentioning dhoni's name given that he's already suing a news station for defamation.

Maybe the mods need to take a look

I'm happy, as with the majority of 'proper' Indian fans I hate the BCCI and believe it's driving out values of cricket (test cricket, development of players) and turning it into its private cash generator. The money from the IPL only goes into their pockets and isn't reinvested into lower levels of cricket to encourage players at lower standards to improve or have better facilities.
I do hope they are overthrown and the older generation of players (Dravid, Gavaskar etc) are able to take charge and give Indian cricket a better face
-
I'd love to see the fab 4 of Indian cricket(Tendulkar,Ganguly,Dravid and Laxman) along with Kumble take over BCCI. That is when cricket in India will be cricket, the sport and not just a revenue generating machine.

Only until it's proven. I am sure Azharuddin would have denied at first back then.

Sunny Gavaskar In, Srinivasan Out - for the duration of IPL

So nothing changes, BCCI puppet put infront
-
Gavaskar is far from a puppet, he's always challenged decisions made by the BCCI and Indian team management
-
I honestly doubt Srinivasan can make a comeback after this. His time's up at BCCI.
Now, as far as taking over as chairman of ICC is concerned - only time will tell. Equations change pretty quickly at BCCI, especially if you aren't in favour.
