Not for me mate, just putting the feeder out there.
-
I'd buy a cricket bat

Without a shadow of doubt I'd get a Solitaire, his top price is £150 at the moment which will get you a nice grainy bat and as everyone knows, his bats really perform - great bloke who now has digital scales(so you will get the weight you order) and great after purchase customer service.
-
I'd see if Online Stockist was worth the fuss.

I stuck to the topic ish, with a slight deviation rather than going off on a tangent ;)
There was a bat purchased with some of the £200, my days of spending that on a bat are long gone though!
-
How about this? ;)

SS from lukey sports
2nd this !

BlankBat or GM Six6/Purist/Icon
-
B3 bespoke. spend the 200 to test out a revolutionary design - then spend a lot more to get it in top grade. slippery slope.
-
H4L or Red Ink or bb
-
I would probably get a H4L G2 or a B&S Scorch, plenty of value for money in the mid ranges from TON and Kookaburra too. I've picked some belting 5 star Gray Nicolls bats, but seen plenty of less impressive ones too. The GM 808 range is arguably some of the best value for money out there.
In short, if you have 200, and you aren't buying blind, you are more than likely to get a very good bat and a bit of beer money left over.

3 cheers to that!!!

I understand Solitaire have had fairly bad press in the past with weight issues(but he now has digital weights) and their website isn't exactly up to date - but for a completely UK handmade Grade 1 bat, you cannot go wrong for £150! Which you can also arrange to watch the bat being made which he does all himself. Pressing, Handling, Shaping, Finishing - you name it.
-
I'd skip down to IJC counting my cash, spend two hours playing with every bat Paul has for under £200 and then try to persuade him to flog me the Willostix Spitfire for £200 - love the decals on it.
Failing that Solitaire, Red Ink and H4L would al get a call to see what could be done for £200.....
-
Get a custom bat from blank bat guys
-
In this order;
Aldred Butterfly
H4L Devil
Warsop Platinum
Balance; Claret/coaching.
-
A Charlie French (or 2)
-
H4L G2 or a M&H Original (low or high) would be good choices.
-
I'd probably go for one of Mr Aldred's beauties.
-
I have just put an order in for a Newbery Kudos from Paul at IJC. I look forward to seeing what he gets from his visit.
-
Hits Hard power
Aldred
BB
h4L
Any of the above from personal use and recommendation. In addition Jake at Vitas has a keen eye when it comes to hand picking quality bats.
-
i would be happy to go for any of the smaller British manufacturers but if I had to buy today it would probably be a Nixon Storm in a lighter weight as mine is going like a rocket in nets. It just seems that it has a longer middle than my other bats. Mind you I have had several bats from Solitaire (including kids bats ) and the value is second to none. My other option would be a trip to the Aladdins cave that is kippax . choices choices ....

Oooo, don't forget a Hunts custom, £165 from us.

This looks a lovely bat. But why is the 'custom' cheaper than you are selling the 'shelf' version of the Caerulex?
-
It's a custom and he happened to get hold of the stickers. They generally come plain

So, the stickers are worth £55?
-
£125 if you put them on in America (I couldn't resist!)

Erm, why are hands not being bitten off?

Just posting what I read in the thread about 'said' bat.

Is it really a custom, or just a Hunts bat without stickers?

You went there today and had one made?
-
No, I bought something I didn't need but totally fell for. I must not go to cricket stores.

So it was a bat they had in stock? Seems like very good value; but to use the word 'custom' is misleading, is it not?
-
Jon, it's a Hunts made in the old Insignia shape, which isn't available any more, to specific weight - so in that sense it's a custom.
I didn't want it naked, so they very kindly agreed to put Caerulux stickers on for me, cos I am an all round good egg.
It was ordered specifically to those specs by me, and made up for me, rather than being off a shelf.
Does that clarify?

Yes, but my name isn't Jon.

What weight is it?

No. I bought something unrelated to fattus's purchase.

Might get a neon pink cricket bat since heard from some says they are good quality for £195
