Great job, do you have any before and after pictures? Just been doing a couple of refurbs too, it is surprising how easy it can be to get a decent sort of refurb, it just costs a bit of money to start up!

With a bit of time and care taken you can do a half decent job on most bats with just sand paper I've found.
I love doing refurbs and repairs on bats :D

No before and after ones of this one but i had 2 im starting on monday so ill get some of those. Also a complete dog that was going to be thrown away that is well on the way to looking spot on. Ill get some pictures tonight and post tmoro.

Yea me too, my girlfriend thinks im nuts spending hours in the garage, I've been using wire wool as my final finish. then a touch of wax or a coat of oil.
Going to try to get hold of a shin bone this week from the local butcher.

Oh yeah, very nice just to see the end result! Amazing what an orbital sander can actually do though, and how much time it saves! Also, Hammer edge are the worst sheets to remove, they seem to leave all the glue on the face! :-[ Maybe that's the case with most scuff sheets after they've been on for ages though...

I was using an orbital sander as well and it did quite a good job with the face but wasn't as good with the back unless it had no concaving what so ever.
Bought that drum sanding kit off ebay for about £40-£50 i think, and that works really well. Only problem i find with it is getting a new sheet on the dam thing! ;)
Also helps sanding in one direction with the grain

My dad hammered it into me from a young age, always go with the grain, never against it when sanding.
And I do listen to him occasionally :-[

A couple of before shots of a bat im starting on monday.
I think it should come up quite well but its very light say 2.5 - 2.6 so i dont want to take to much off or it will be a touth pick!
