I will take two!
Got to say the shape looks exactly like that used by David Warner and George Bailey.

I can't wait for your review after you have properly knocked this in! :D

Reluctant sale of said bat. Best performing bat ever, pings like a dream but it doesn't quite suit... aka, it's not as good as stated and I want rid but want as much ££ as I can get.
-
I don't care if Don Bradman himself rises from the grave and made the bat, no piece of willow is ever worth £650. Ridiculous.
-
I bet some of them don't even look that good. I've never been big on good looking bats or ones that last, just so long as they perform from day dot. But for THAT sort of money, they would have to be the most incredible looking bats you have ever seen. But I have my doubts at offering 80 a year. Ohhhh but it has the word GOLD in it. Yep winner for sure...
-
As lovely as the graphics are and as well as I'm sure itwould perform, this is where fasteddie's H4L/WArsop argument gains most credence.

Personally, given Bradman's bat making reputation, that most certainly wouldn't be...

Really?!?!?!
I think I'd pay £650 to see that! :D
-
£400 for a top hand made English bat doesn't seem to bad now :D

give it 2 or 3 seasons and there will be some bat with £600+ RRP

Don't doubt that for a minute John. I'm sure SK's bats are fantastic, as he makes a hell of a lot for the SH players, but this whole exclusivity thing really makes me laugh. I've never understood the whole concept of what attracts people to buy things that are limited run - is it purely one-upmanship?
Plus, we've got to a situation where RRP is nothing but an over-inflated number to fool people into thinking they're getting a great deal - Sports Direct have been doing it for years, and the entire coarse fishing market was doing it 15 years ago.
-

That is the rrp on a GM Player Edition and a GN Legend already
-
George Bailey: "Have 6 sent to my room thanks Stu"
-
That is grotesque, a few guys at my club sent me a link saying they expected me to buy one, given I have bought a Legend in the past. I don't mind spending top dollar on a top quality bat like the Legend and the XXX I bought last season, but over $AU1000? No way! How long before it becomes standard fare for a bat to cost that much? Will it price out people who aren't able to spend that money on equipment out of cricket?
-
Even a laver and wood signature is cheaper than that, and it is limited to 5 or 6, unlike 80. What a ripoff.
-
I love it when brands come out to this "limited to 80" or "limited to 50" nonsense. GN do it a lot, as have some of the smaller brands. Almost always that number is carefully chosen as that's how many they think they'll sell, if they thought they could sell 1000s of bats at £650 - they would.

I think, as we know, the RRP and price you charge are poles apart.
-

£400 for a bat. A tin bath!
Only a few brands have the cheek/nerve to charge that.
You can get the same performance for £250.
-
Here is the first actual picture of one, with a legend. https://twitter.com/cricketexpresnz/status/491805903096520704
-
The legend only has 9 grains [emoji33]
-
Yeah I'll be ordering one....not! Bloody expensive piece of willow
-
The forum sponsors on here have better looking grade 4 willow than this, like the Gen x strike from Uzi Sports
-
Saw similar price at GCCC online store. Ridiculous price!
-
That legend seems to have a better grain structure than the legend gold.
-
Had a look on the GCCC website and it was sold out already. Not a surprise as people looked at the SALE tag before realizing it was only $25 off (RRP) the most expensive bat.
-
Here is a video review for those who are interested. Basically, they are bats that aren't pressed much (if not at all). This bat is for people who want a bat that performs very well but is very likely to break the first ball you face. I bet there were surface cracks when they tapped it up! http://youtu.be/XQbiDWmYt9Y

Believe me, having tried an unpressed bat, they really, really don't work, so it is definitely pressed. Just ask Buzz... You need to press a bat or the ball just dies when it hits the face.

They get them really big. Could be overdried with a low density cleft. In the video, he said that they are really soft and should only be used in matches.
-
Maybe they picked the lowest density clefts possible?
-
Maybe it's just a gimmick. I have used a numbered LE legend that was a dud, a mate bought a $95 County Crusader from Sportspower that performed better than the $750 Legend! I know that's just the luck of the draw I guess, but at such a price and being apparently limited in numbers, you would think EVERY one of them would be checked for performance.
-
In the video he says that he practically guarantees that it will be the best bat you will ever own. LOLOLOLOLOLOOOOOOOOL
-
As i only ever use soft pressed bats and being a G.N fan having watched the video and listening to the claims i was tempted but
i also know my local batmaker will make me the best white willow straight grained bespoke pro bat for £360.00
-
Just outrageous. As above you can get the best willow available in the UK for £400 or under made exactly as you want it.
-
The Legend coming to the UK next year has an RRP of £700. Even the top of the range Test bats from GN are £500.
-
Soft pressing.....lol. #itsnotsmokeandmirrors

Great product but that idiot at GCCC is laughable..
-
I held one of these in the flesh today... unimpressed.
nice bat but wouldn't have paid half the asking price for it
-
The Legend have been the best 200 clefts available... When you think about it, it is quite clever marketing: they can now only find 80 really "great" clefts but by bumping the prices up to a ridiculous level, we now accept that the regular Legend doesn't have to be that fantastic any more but will still be charged the same for it. Less bat for more money= brilliant for GN!

Yes, yes he is.
-
I had a look at these when I was in GCCC on the weekend. I picked up three and noticed that ALL of the Golds are numbered "1 of 80"... Not bad, is it? Pay $1200 and they can't even be bothered to number them sequentially!

Of maybe they have, another store has a few 2 of 80 etc so the 80 is more like 800!
-
Times that by 1000 and that's a fair wack of cash

Reviving an old thread. Have a bloke i use to play cricket with and his retiring to 2020 cricket only and is getting rid of his gold after a season and a bit of use. Going to look at it on friday he wants $300 aud for it.
Offered him my 606 kaha and $100 and im pretty sure its a done deal. Will keep everyone posted!
-
Interestingly I had a bloke from Pakistan tell me that he called GCCC asking to buy one and was told GN Australia only wanted them sold on the local market. That was 2 months ago.
