I particularly like the video where you rarely fail to hit a '6' slog sweeping...

There is no way that bowling machine is set at 70mph....

And if I had a batsman trying to do that, bowling with swing, seam and around about offstump is going to generate a catch in a short period of time through a miss-hit.

Tim - I think we need to recognise that the bowling machine set in the barn is a pretty short distance (as we tried to calculate before) and what we think is 60 mph is someone else's 75...

I'm with you on this one. The slog sweep video says it was set to 58mph and it looks about the same to me. To much time to pose if that's 70mph - most club players wouldn't be waiting that long for it.

Toby is the don. He literally taught me, and a lot of other youngsters who came through the Berkshire setup in the 90s, how to bat.

Very intelligent individual.

the flourish is a little over the top, holds the pose, then flicks the bat over and onto his shoulder, pack it in. I hate that kind of stuff, no need for it

Great videos and the the holding of position Is just to emphasise and exaggerate the positions required for each shot.

The Toby Radford uploads are a good watch. Simple, well shot/edited, good camera angles and clear presentation. Can't beat the 'The Bob Woolmer Way' though :)

Unfortunately, I keep giving those 'The Cricket School' videos a chance and I'm not really keen on them. In my view they're pretty poorly made and not very informative. Sorry Jemile

I like the way the emphasis is on getting the basics right with a tennis ball first. Simple steps.

I echo the comments about the speed.

As for the back foot 'coming round' as part of a stabilising process, and this being fine, can't say I've ever seen/heard/been taught anything that says this is a good thing.

If I see a batsmans back foot coming round to level up with the front foot, or even go past it, even if the batmsman 'styles it out' like in these videos that tells me the stride isn't big enough and the head is dragging the player off balance. My opinion on the stride is backed up when you look at how far the batsman in the video is reaching for these shots. No issue at all on an artificial/indoor surface - but do that on 80% of club wickets and watch your stumps cartwheel as the ball nips about off the seam.

Honestly don't see the benefit of telling/teaching people to hit something as quick as that (I'm not convinced it is 70 but thats the claim) so hard and in the air. Timing is difficult at that speed, even more so outdoors, so the risk of spooning one in the air is huge. It's much easier to use the pace of the ball and hit gaps to score runs.

Never heard of this before, seems a good project with a lot of followers on YouTube, not sure I agree with all the advice though. That's the beauty of this game, and of coaching it, everyone has a different view.
