Title: Next Visit to Newbery...
Post by: ItsJustCricket on April 08, 2014, 06:18:08 PM
Chris and I will be visiting Newbery again tomorrow - it really has become our home away from home!  :)

I am going to try to take a few more photos this time and will add them to the thread when we get back.

In the meantime, if anyone is interested in a new Newbery bat for the start of the season, please give us a shout! We'll be able to pick something out exactly to your specs...

Cheers,
Paul

No bats but if they have any Cadbury pads and gloves they didn't sell hiding around I'll happily help them find a home

A few random photos from our visit yesterday...

As you can see, we hand-picked grips as well as bats!  :) They also had some fairly old school bats lying around, and they tapped up superbly, incidentally!  :)

I will put up some more photos later.

The bats should be with us by Friday/Monday...

The square toed Kudos is a junior bat, Tushar - the junior ones have squarer toes.

Those are bats put aside for the pros - we couldn't take any, unfortunately! I think people refer to it as the "Pro bin"...

you could always grab a few stickers to put over the top hiding the handwritten 'pro'.....you might sneak one through that way!

just a thought ;-)

Any idea on costs of bats from said pro bin?

I've had a few Mjolnir's out of the pro bin, and a GT. Really great bats.

Wouldn't have said they are worlds apart from the majority of offerings Newbery provide though! :)

I think they would be at least the same as a Kudos SPS, if not a little more.  I am sure someone else on here will know better!

Individuals can indeed buy them although they're about £400....
They're pro players cast offs after a batch has been made for them, slightly wrong weight/ping etc.

I look forward to seeing the choices of what bat to get from you Paul. Hopefully they are all great sticks.

Great insight into your bat selecting process.

Its good to know that you're stocking selected best bats.

That tour looks lovely, glad i don't work down the road anymore Paul as i'd probably be popping in and leaving with a newbery bat :)

That's a shame, Ian! I highly doubt you'd be able to resist one of these new Newbery bats if you did manage to pop in...  ;)

Tis a shame although it spares me the embarrassment of being lost in south London like the last two times I've been to your shop. It's why boys from the countryside don't belong in the big smoke!

Probably these? http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-footwear-c26/cricket-shoes-c34/kookaburra-pro-400-rubber-cricket-shoes-p504 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-footwear-c26/cricket-shoes-c34/kookaburra-pro-400-rubber-cricket-shoes-p504)

Now discontinued in this colour scheme, sadly.  This is the new version: http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-footwear-c26/kookaburra-pro-300-rubber-cricket-shoes-p942 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-footwear-c26/kookaburra-pro-300-rubber-cricket-shoes-p942)
