Title: Grip grip
Post by: Outlaw on April 10, 2014, 03:03:14 PM
Just came across this might be of interest to some of you or some of the retailers as on here.

Noticed a few pro's mentioning it on twitter might be worth a try to see if its just a gimmick or not.

I've got some self amalgamating tape in my electrical messing about box, hadn't thought to use it for bat grips though!

Does regular self amalgamating tape stretch so it's thin underneath like grip grip does?

"unaffected by degree of stretch"

I guess so! Might investigate this further, its obvious the product hasn't actually been made especially for cricket otherwise someone would have come up with it before now - its clever marketing but it is just essentially another product that's been re-branded, I'm sure they'll make a bit of quick cash out of it though

Also looks like its Piri Piri - same website designer, bats all over the photos and they're promoting it all over twitter - fair play to them

Clever,

I'll pop in and pick some up from a DIY store and give it a test, got one bat this problem is really annoying with!

The stuff I've got will stretch a fair bit and it's overly thick I begin with.

It was used to hold the wiring loom of my old mk4 fiesta together and everything still fitted in the original places haha

Bought some last night and had a play.

Works fine, yet to see if it stops the grip sliding up.

Did find that make sure your grip rolls all the way down first.

Had one grip where it was .5cm higher than I wanted, so I tried pushing it down with the heels of my hand as normal and the tape bunched up.

Could you take the tape off and reapply it if the grip wasn't quite fitted far enough down? If it works I might but a load of the 3M self amalgamating stuff for Neon - might look pretty good not having to put tape on the grips... just a thought!

It isn't difficult to remove the SA tape and reapply.

Lesso learnt is to apply the grip, then roll up for application of SA Tape, and not to put tape on then apply grip.

It's a bit trickier if you do 1.5 grips like I do, I found the trick was to roll the grip up for the low bit of SA tape, and if you want the extra bit of grip to roll the half grip down and apply.
