Bought this with a crack to the shoulder... Not in the playing area so thinking shouldn't be a problem but wondering how I can limit chances of it catching something in my bag whilst I'm pulling it out and making it worse...
I'm not really able to pry it apart with my fingers (to be able to get some sort of glue in there) so any other ideas?

Get a thin blade in and open it up, then the glue!

I had a crack on one off my bats like that i got a syringe and needle and with a fine needle I injected glue in to it then got some strong string and tied it as hard as I could then put a wedge under the string to add pressure
Ps my wife's a nurse if you was wondering about the needle and syringe

Yes that that does require a repair as I have known that type of shoulder crack get worse and among other things it could create handle vibration, having repaired similar shoulder cracks my advice is put PVA glue in the gap and if possible clamp it for 24 hours then tightly apply cricket bat tape the full length of the crack. If you do not have a clamp or engineers vice to clamp the shoulder tape it tight immediately after applying the glue.

Open the crack with a knife or flat screwdriver, water some glue and pour it into the crack, then clamp it for 24 hours.. after that u can reinforce the repair with bat tape or in my case i would use twine....
Keep us posted ....

Did they dowel from face to back rather than edge to middle for a crack like this??

I honestly don't know, as the repaired dowel is under the stickers and I've not took them off to look. My crack although similar, was more towards the handle, and and came out on the back of the bat, not the edge. Although still went across at an angle.

Yeah, they will have done it from the back probably, but it depends where the thinner bit is.
For this, glue and clamp and screw it would be ok I would guess.

Ah, was thinking it wouldn't really need fixing but seemingly it's best to.
I'll give prising it open and using some PVA a go.
