Yes chaps, here I am, with the latest piece of hybrid batting technology - and as usual, I am ahead of the wave!
Part Mongoose - part Joker, this is 'The Monger'
Made from a hithertoo unknown, hi-impact, low looks performance willow that defies categorisation by JS Wright, this is a piece of work.
It weighs in at 2.9lb, it has 42mm edges and a 70mm spine, and it picks up like a dream. With racey dropped shoulders and a longer handle for ultimate biffing, this is definitely a man's tool.
It has 5 wobbly grains (which I'm told the pros now prefer) and in tapping it up, I have broken every light-fitting in my house and a passing wood-pigeon. It also has the latest must-have face marking - the 'Frog Eyed Knot', two evenly spaced knots, parallel across the face. I am told, that the area will act like a woody trampoline and the performance will be eye-watering.
Here she is in all her glory:

More than one other forum member his used this stick of dynamite - it made them feel dirty - BUT THEY LIKED IT!!!!!
(ps, if anyone can turn these bloody pics round for me - please do it!)
-
I'm lost for words. :o
-
She is lovely I must say
-
Move aside Pro bats and Crown willow...monger is in town...wheelin dealin - run stealing...
-
Now that I like!
Do they do one in 3lb?
-
Love the monger Bruce have you the tools to use it!!!!
-
that is awesome.
i would imagine with a spec like that being a rare limited edition bat it must retail for around £899 so long as you are willing to go and pick it up as its far to valuable to post
-
This would be an amazing bat to use in T20 cricket. I wouldn't be surprised if I see someone using somethign similar in 2014 edition of the IPL.

Hmmmm - I reckon this this needs a fluro grip - anyone got one?
-
Oooohhhh that's clearly the blade o someone special!

Is a rainbow grip any good Fattus??
-
I've got those I'm afraid. I think I'm looking for lime green or violent orange to match the silly stickers I;ve put on it.
Every massive tool needs the right rubber!
-
How about bright pink??
I can help you out with one of them :D
-
Have you made the 'Minger' yet?
Surely every Monger needs a Minger.
-
In that bottom pic it looks so hot it's smokin!
-

He has more than just the tools to use it.... He IS the tool to use it ;) :D
-
Built for 'the flourish'. ;)
-
Love it! Doing something similar, but only shorten the bladelengthened the handle by an inch and a half for fear of copping a bagging.
What's the word on wobbly grains. my new goose torq has wobbly grains, but I just accept that as grade 3 willow.

Many pros are now specifying Wobbly Grains as they believe a wavy grain spreads the ping wider across the face than a straight grain.
You will be begin to hear a lot more about this - it's simply that I am party to the info ahead of the rest of you.

Yeah but what does he know? He's not in the Mong Club!

I feel dirty just reading this thread and looking at the pictures.
Words cannot describe how I felt when I had a hit with this bat. I had to have a long bath afterwards. I still get the shivers thinking about it.
-
Fattus, where did you get your one off stickers done?
-
I made them myself in my Sign Shop.
Fluro vinyl vinyl - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Cool, I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy about my bat for next season now. Thanks for the info.
