Yep, wouldn't wish it on anyone. England have shown he was probably more key to the test team than KP.

Such a shame my favorite cricketer of the last few years bar Brad Hodge and possibly Pujara.
Hope he gets well and finds some peace in his life.

I said at the time that the likes of Vaughan and Hoggard had no idea what they were talking about in criticising Trott when he said it was 'burnout'.
Trott knew if he said he suffers from 'depression' his England career would have been over.
I think it is a real shame. A great talent has been lost to mismanagement and poor advice.
I think it is about time EVERYONE rallied around Trotty and gave him the help and support he needs.

Such a shame use to love watch him bat and on his day he was among the best shot makers out their I hope he can get himself together and have a role with coaching :)

Wow what a loss to cricket. It seems that he feels that cricket is destroying his mental state and family life. I don't see a return to cricket based on his statement.

I will probably get shot down for this:
I think this is a good thing for both Trott and the ECB. Not a good thing for the individual that it has happened - I wouldn't wish what Trott is going through on anyone, and I sincerely hope he is able to sort himself out.
What I mean is that it is good that it has happened now. Trott knows that he cannot go on within the England set-up, England now know that they cannot pick him, and can start planning for who will bat at 3 and start to build po their new batting order.
I have a feeling that over the years the ECB have chosen to turn a blind eye to player emotional problems, and keep on picking them and forcing them forwards to play whilst ignoring the symptoms.
I'm thinking of Tresco, Trotty, Yardy, Bopara, Monty and for different reasons Swann.
I think all of those have been picked to play because it suits Team England, rather than looking deeply at the player themselves and realising it's a disaster to pick them / take them on tour.
Don't get me wrong, I also feel it's beholden on the players themselves to be a bit stronger and say "look guys, don;t push me in to this - I really can't play right now" and that's something I don't think has happened when it should in the past.

Sadly, it highlights again how 'mental health' issues are so poorly dealt with and how common it is in the modern and stressful world we live in.
The figure is 1 in 4 are dealing with some form of it at any one time regardless of status and wealth.
With a young family too I hope he finally manages to get the proper help and support he needs.
As for the ECB or any form of admin... do they really care about individuals or what they can contribute or more about results, making money or how they ultimately look? Only they know the answer...

As much as I hate to say this but I feel Trott is suffering from depression because that is instantly what relapse suggests.
Considering how he 'brushed off' depression prior to his Country return, he might be in denial?

I suppose the intensity of top level cricket is not for everyone
I know the county and university set ups try to monitor,guide and advise on players abilities to handle what's gonna be thrown at em etc, ,but at the end of the day,it's down to the individual how they handle it.
I hope he stays with cricket in some way
And I also hope that Yorkshire bell end Vaughan tries to think before opening his gob

Always thought those interviews with sky were a bit odd.
At the time I likened it to trescothick who I recalled did something similar only to have a relapse not long afterwards.
Forget cricket - trott's got a young family to support which is far more important than any cricket game or career

Most of us have a limited 'well' from which we can draw from. Clearly some professions draw more heavily than others. Time for something less stressful. Trott's situation is not different from thousands of others. He will get access to the best medical treatment so should be fine.
You do see this in many professions. One of the best fund managers of recent times retired at a similar age due to burn-out. Many top players in the city quit at a similar age.
The 'well' has a limit and Trott seems to have run his dry.
I do wish him the best with his next phase.

I fully agree you can only go to the well so many times before it drains.
I would also criticise the ecb for taking him to Oz in that condition and Sky for airing that interview. Struck me as making a profit of a guy who clearly wasn't right and so soon after the event!

In all honesty, I don't live in your country and care little for the concerns of the ECB.
But I am saddened to see this happen to Trott. Personally, I think he is world class. A serious cricketer.
I hope this turns out well for him. I think, one way or another, it will.

He got a few, not out overnight. Gonna be a wet one tomorrow though, sustained rain for the last hour doesn't look like easing anytime soon.

Hope He come back to the team as well. when I first saw him in his first ashes series, he was a tough nut to crack for Aussies.
