Title: Salix kit

Photographs of my Salix kit, all of which is either currently unused since a refurb (bat) or brand new unused (gloves and batting pads).

Illustrating some of the finer detailing. The pads feature a personal favourite and rarely found these days, a full leather instep.

 Alan, I'll tell you. Those gloves are horrible and not worth using so just sell them.......to me :-[

Great kit. I haven't had Salix softs before but would imagine it's hard to find better.

I must say, however, I like the shin padding to come right down to the ankle rather than stopping at the bottom strap.

I've got the pod one black gloves and they are lovely, but they leave black marks on the grip so I've found myself using a different pair more often. Has anyone else found this problem with them?

Did consider this possibility / inevitability when choosing the grip colour for the bat.

Went for gold though as it was the standard for the model and simply looks better imo - for now at least.

Have used this kit for two matches this season, although in practice it was mainly yesterday.

Batted for 90 minutes and the gloves and pads are now very comfortable indeed. Really pleased with them. Confident in the protection offered, whilst not conscious of wearing them.

Youth size is similar to Small Men's in Kookaburra. The Salix pads are slightly shorter though. Not bulky to run in.

The bat seems to have improved in performance since the refurb by Salix, which was mainly undertaken for cosmetic reasons.

It is 2 ounces heavier than the bat I used most of last season (Kahuna Players) and the difference is quite noticeable, feels like there is much more behind the ball. It is also performing very well too and I really enjoyed using it. It also sounded just right when hitting the ball, less sharp than the Kahuna which I think is pressed a bit harder.

Rarely face any kind of pace so will use the Pod this season unless the pitches become fast and bouncy, or expecting to face quicker bowling.

Glad I took the pictures as it was a wet day yesterday and the kit is not pristine any longer.
