Have used the Combi grip and can vouch for the comfort and grip it offers. extremely different to the GM ripple grips aswell.
Good review mate.

Bat looks a big piece of wood for 2.8. I wonder if these have extra drying? A lot of heartwood in it though. Not that I mind heartwood.
Only issue with the review is on the gloves you say "great levels of protection" and "the bat doesn't twist in your hand due to grip provided" but then you say you've never used them in a game or a net? So not sure how you can judge either?
Look forward to a follow up review once you've had a game with them to see if the above statements are correct.

Thanks for the reply mate,
i have owned xtrax gloves in the past and have used combi grips in the past so i know the feel and know that the bat doesn't twist. I also said with regards to protection that they look to have ample protection.
The bat and grip combination has been tested. I can stand there holding the bat and getting someone to twist the bat and the bat does not spin.
Hope that all makes sense mate

This has to be the most ridiculous way I have ever heard to see if a bat twists in your hands... Completely nothing like bat on ball. Maybe get a ball pein hammer and get someone to hit the edges with it while you hold it in your hands and see if it twists :( ???

correct it isnt like a ball on bat. But just try it for yourself with a pair of leather palms and a normal grip. the bat will turn. If you really want to think about it you could get more force by trying to twist than a ball hitting it so if the bat doesnt twist when trying to twist it wont when a ball hits
-
I'd like to see moi torque readings as opposed to someone twisting it in your hands but hey everyone uses their own ideas to determine the perceived outcome
-
Complete horse (No Swearing Please) this twisting lark you are on about

Never had a bat twist in your hand when batting John...you dont while using these gloves. As i said in the video, i havent used this particular pair of gloves but have used xtrax palms and i know it doesn't happen. But really must will struggle to comprehend this as it is not the norm
-
I bet you I could hold the bat and stop it from twisting when most people are trying to twist that bat - basically because I have very strong arms and wrists!! When a ball makes contact with a bat, you are holding the bat completely differently and the top hand is normally firm but relaxed with the bottom hand loose!
Therefore its not the best way to test a bat and gloves as they are different conditions and circumstances!
It's best not to try and be too clever - just keep the tests relevant?

The point is mate that the material stops the twisting, i agree it is a different way of testing but as i have not had a net i cant test it properly, i am trying to make do.
-
i havent had a bat twist in my hand, my wrist has twisted on contact but not the bat handle spinning in my hand.
-
The test isn't relevant. I would have said,"I have used this gloves before and they didn't twist at all. And these gloves have now been improved so should be even better!"
I have an older pair which are great quality so do rate the gloves highly.

Is your call mate, i think it does have relevance as you can put more force through twisting the bat and really if you can twist a bat in your hands with dry leather....what will happen when sweat gets in there.
I will back Lekka all day everyday, I am yet to be let down

This just screams of a free attempt at marketing for Lekka - again

A review is a review.
We cannot ban people from doing a review of a 'banned' brand.
If we feel that someone is doing excessive reviews from either banned or non-banned brands, then we will come down on it!
Remember that we cannot ban a brand completely just because the owner or representative is banned.

Can we all agree that when bats start ending up in garden/water features, then Lekka must be involved? :D

Yeah have to agree - ignore my comment, just Lekka seems to pop up from the same few people quite a lot haha!

I don't know the background to the "Lekka Saga", but it seems to me that all of you who constantly comment on this type of post are just increasing the exposure. Wouldnt it be better just to say nothing, ignore the post and that way it would soon die; as it is these posts seem to gain a life of their own giving the banned Mr Lekka increased exposure. On the other hand it does make amusing reading!

Comment of the day! Lol you'll realise pretty soon mate that common sense has no place on this forum!

i can only review how i seem fit mate, I have offered to review many brands on the forum and my door is always open.

People like reading / seeing reviews so if there is a brand you fancy, purchase one of their products and review away!

100% agree mate i like to hear what people have to say about gear. Everyones views will always differ, we all like different things in gear

I dont need to share that info mate and i dont think the forum companies would like me to express who i have and have not offered to review. Simply not cricket! :)
-
Nice review buddy. That's an interesting bat grip.

Thanks mate. They are really nice. I was skeptical on how they would feel but they are a million bucks

I don't see why a forum sponsor wouldn't want you to review the gear you have used of theirs... Or how they could stop you from doing a review of the gear you have used ???

Long story short. I asked a few companies to review their gear after some exchanges not on the forum about other gear I had reviewed and simply said to them that I can only review how I see fit and could always do their gear if they had an issue with what I was doing
-
Have you used the xtrax grip with Octopus before? Did it wear down?
My worry with that grip would be that my bottom hand glove wears out whilst I still have life in my top hand glove.

Refer to above comments mate. Havent had a net yet and only received few weeks back. Will pass those findings on when I use it

As a brand; is there any particular reason as to why I should ask you to review a product, over getting someone like IJC to stock my product and have them review it on their popular Youtube channel?
What unique form of insight do you bring to the gear review that I can't consume from elsewhere?
-

You must have tried other gear before I just wounded what bats you have used before and how they compare be interested to hear what you have to say

Can you not see what I am saying mate. After companies on this forum said I was just trying to stir by saying lekka gear is good. I simply told them that I review as I see fit and could always review their gear and giveumy honest thoughts. Nothing more than that.

Awesome - It'd be great to see you do a few more videos of the bats you do own. Or even just one video showing off a few at a time and comparing them.

Maybe you should check the dates mate. This was posted nearly 12 months ago and I had only acquired that bat a few weeks before the post. Trying to be smart didn't work
-
Wow, how many bats have you bought in the last 12 months if they only just make your top 10 James? Sorry I mean FF.

Think the fact I show my face proves im not him. I obtained quite a number of bats in the last 12 months as I was a sponsored player of a Pakistani brand. I also received a couple of bats as gifts from various friends and family

**UPDATE**
Hello all,
sorry for bringing up an old thread but thought i would give my update on the JVS HMX
Bat itself has been a gem, i havent scored many runs more down to the terrible form i am in, but in the nets it is a gem of bat.
It has been documented in another part of the forum that i broke 4 bats in 15 days.
This bat was part of the 4 i broke in 15 days with a crack on the toe. Not really affecting performance, just an eye saw. It has also began to develop a series of surface cracks that also posted about the other day but has not taken anything away from the bat., still is cannoning off.
Will have some photos up tomorrow as i have sustained a nasty injury tonight at training involving a cracked "box" so will have a proper photo review of the bat tomorrow
Cheers

cracked box, by the forum rules without photographic evidence this didn't happen!!
(It's only funny when it happens to someone else!) :D
