What would be the best value, light weight, umpire cam for quality of vids and battery life on the market? Go Pro has the name but are there any makes that are better?
I did read somewhere that some type of Go Pro cams freeze, is there any truth in that?

I have a go pro. Infact have several. No freezing issues ever.
They dont actually see for enough for cricketing purposes. Although i have tried.

Wow, thanks for the reply. Some great footage there and the missed stumping was funny.
I would never have thought that a Go Pro would not be clear enough to see opposite ends of the stumps clear enough.
A JVC GC-XA2 looks interesting but I fear it might have the same problem.

Iīve bought a Drift Ghost S. Was swayed by a 3.5 hr recording time in HD at 120 frames per second. Found a unused el cheapo tripod, took off the threaded bar and nut. Drilled a hole in the peak of a cap and joined the two together and hey presto, my own home made umpire cam.
I was not able to play today so I popped down to the ground. Neither captain had a problem with me standing behind the umpire so thatīs where I took some footage from. Still a work in progress but happy with the results. The cam comes with a wrist mounted remote so I was able to pause between overs. Decent bit of kit, expensive but worth it.
