Title: what is that pink bandage
Post by: The Palmist on April 30, 2014, 09:52:35 AM
Hello Chaps,

I have seen a few players putting knee support kind of tight elasticated bandages on knees and arms and same for arms. Are these any good and where can I source them from. My knees have been fine so far but I am beginning to feel the pain next day, I do jump about quite a lot for the full duration of the innings and it’s taking its toll. I would rather slow the degeneration of my knees now than wait for it to get worse.

I have used crepe bandage before but it was basically a long strip and you had to wrap it around yourself and it will often come loose.

Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Is it REA Kinesiology Sports Athletic therapeutic taping? I've used this before to good effect (it was recommended), but I think there are many other types with different properties, such as added ibuprofen.

If you're going to use it, I recommend first spraying the area with mounting glue as this will help the tape stick for longer.

I was told that REA Kinesiology tape should really only be used for stabilising and helping to heal an injury.

During a game I use LEUKOTAPE P tape to help my knee. Just two strips under the knee cap. I also do lots of muscle building exercise (everyday) plus leg stretches, before and after a match.

Hope this helps
