Just got my custom made SS Platinum Reserve today. It a absolute beauty.
What I ordered:
Weight: 2.9-2.10
A 1/2 inch shorter blade so as to get 40mm or bigger edges with a normal length handle.
12-14 grains
What I received:
Weight 2lb9.5oz.
Has 17 ruler straight grains (with 4 grains in heartwood on the outer edge)
Edges are 37mm
The blade length is normal (not 1/2 inch shorter as I wanted. SS/Jatin informed this to Lukey beforehand that they could achieve up to 38mm edges on a normal blade using the willow they have for their Platinum Reserve bats)
The balance and pick-up are exceptional. Pressing is good and the finishing (sanding and waxing) is very close to the Newbery standards.
The ping is phenomenal.
SS have massively exceeded my expectations with this bat. Hats off to the batmaker who made this custom for me.
The best SS bat I have seen for sometime now.
The bat was ordered through Lukey's Sports and arrived within 10 days

if you mix the L&W firefly, the mongoose CoR3 and newbery gt335 your somewhere close to my perfect profile.

a very difficult but a good assignment for one of our resident batmakers on this forum.

do not think so as the spine is quite good. My photo of the profile do not do justice to it. I do not like too muc concaving on my bats. Like to keep them meaty.

I paid much less than the price Platinum Reserve bats are (and will be) actually sold for (£200+). This was a special favor, so what I paid for is not really reflective of the true value.
-
so what did pay?
I dont really like the shapes on the asian style bats, I like a very defined splice, that looks like some really nice wood though.
-
SS make really good bats, I've heard only good things about SS gold edition and SS Platinum reserve.
These bats are similar quality to International players use around the world.

if he says its less than £200 he probably doesnt want to say the exact figure
-
Willow looks great. Profile not so great, dont really like bats with massive edges.
-
My goodness that looks a quality bat!

Used the bat in the nets yesterday and the ball just flies off the middle. I generally use 2.9 bats as I rely on my bat speed (as being a player who relies more on hand and eyecoordination rather than technique).
Even though the bat was a bit heavier, it felt really very nice and the balance was very good.
Played a lot of drive (both of the front and back foot) and I can't help saying that the middle is really very generous - mid-low and packs a punch. Even with a low back lift (had to as I was playing balls in the range of 75mph-80mph in indoor nets), some balls just raced passed the bowler.
A truly 5* experience - quality of bat, service from Lukey and SS sports.

I think CA, SS & SG are top 3 indian brands
-
I would agree, minus CA. To be considered a top 3 Indian brand I would say that it's pretty key they're Indian.

Ahahaha

Back on topic looks a great bat for £170
-
grains are too good, hope u make Tons out of it

Yash will totally smash it with this bat. Maybe he can do the same as Yuvi did to broad hit six 6's of one over.

Looks fantastic, but I hate the way you say "My photo of the profile do not do justice to it".. Last time I looked, cameras take accurate photos of the item in real life?! Its different if the photos blurred, and if discussing the grains, then its understandable, but this isnt the case..
-
The pictures of mount Everest did not do it justice it was much more impressive when I saw it in person, I can see what Yash means
-
If you've ever been on a heavy night out and woken up, gone on Facebook only to find yourself tagged in hundreds of photos with various girls you'd know photos never do justice.
-
LOL.. Just remembered a few of those facebook morning after.. ;D

cameras do take accurate pictures but not everyone is a expert photographer. Its always more difficult to take pictures of the profile. Also there are many factors which affect the picture, lighting, angel at which the bat/object is placed and the angle of the camera, all of which have to be right to get a perfect shot. Unfortunately I am not good with these (at least in the practical sense).
Edges are 38mm and the spine is about 64mm

Fair enough:)
