So the first squad is in. And it's for the game vs Scotland. So not sure how "serious" a squad it is. But I suppose all coaches wanna win there first game/series in charge
Alastair Cook (Essex, captain), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Gary Ballance (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Ravi Bopara (Essex), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Harry Gurney (Nottinghamshire), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Joe Root (Yorkshire), James Tredwell (Kent), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire).
Feel sorry for lumb, 1 ton in the windies on debut and then dropped.

No hales still?
Least luke wright has been dropped
Surprised no buffet bresnan either
Looks like Anderson only play odi's at home given he gets smashed everywhere else.
-
Can't believe Lumb or Hales didn't get in instead of Ballance :o. And Harry Gurney? Really...?
-
No Carberry, no Hales, Harry Gurney in the squad #MooresOut
At least there's no Wright or Dernbach I suppose...

Lumb and Hales are openers. Ballance is middle order. Like saying a spinner should replace a seamer when the pitch doesn't call for it.

Why no Vince?
Haha :D. Quite sure I said perhaps later in the summer if he does well in the OD competition in my post ;). Quite sure we could say 'Why not...'? About quite a few players at the moment.
Just a thought, how much input does Moores have on the squad itself without being a selector?
-
Not sure this is a squad that makes much sense - given the players miss a week with their counties, it features only five frontline bowlers - Jordan, Anderson, Woakes (really?) and Gurney (see previous!) alongside Tredwell - but seven batsmen, of whom probably only five will play.
Hales and Vince never serious contenders. But Lumb has every right to feel hard done to - 106, 39, 20 dropped? Really?
-
Lumb can feel slightly hard done by but is not really the future though at 34!! Glad Dernbach is gone and good to see Gurney get his chance having been impressed by him on the one occasion I've seen him live. Slightly disappointed not to see one of Hales or Vince get a call up but Ali is in favour and Ballance has scored runs

While you are worrying about your team I'm still upset Scotland haven't picked me!
