Title: Bats for a back foot player
Post by: mohawks94 on May 03, 2014, 08:21:46 AM
Hi all,
One of the lads I coach has been going through Spartan MP1000s like nobodys business, and has had enough of them as they just don't seem to last. He broke his fourth since the middle of last season at a match last night. I have been trying to think of what bats would suit him, so I can give him some advice. As a bit of background, he is about 5ft 1, an under 14, and is on the verge of the county age group squad. As a short lad, he is strong on the cut shot and pulling, but has added a rather nice set of drives with some beautiful form on them over the winter. He had a hit with my Kookaburra Rogue, which is an SH 2.9lb, and he smashed it everywhere, but I don't think he is tall enough or strong enough for a full sized bat, something that his dad (my boss in my holiday job) agrees with. Does anyone have any ideas of what bats at the moment have similar profile to the Rogue, with a mid/low middle?
I would devote time looking myself, but I have imminent essay deadlines (yay), so any suggestions are much appreciated.
Cheers

Where are you based?
A chat with a good retailer or bat maker could bear dividends. In the end, it's up to him and what feels right.
