Title: Bats we would like to see re-released
Post by: calvin1mac on May 08, 2014, 04:54:07 PM
I've been enjoying reading through the modern classics thread and thought id start one about bats you'd like to see re-released.
This has been the trend over the last couple of seasons with the main manufacturers and in my opinion Gray Nicolls and Kookaburra have done the best job of it with the bubble, dyna drive and scoop.
Although saying that I think Newbery Mjolnir and the M&H Retro were also great bats.

For me personally I'd like to see some of the classic G&M bats like the diamond, cannon, maestro and autograph re-produced. Retro style graphics and based on the original shape with a modern twist.
I personally don't buy many bats from big manufacturers but I bought a bubble this year purely for the fact that I wanted one in my teens.

The original Maestro.

Also the Cannon. I had one of those too, but could barely lift it!

Those made the biggest impression when I was a bairn (of course Warsop made me glow with love, but G&M where pre-Warsop)

They've already done my Dynadrive....

Would love to see a Diamond done with modern pressing and you can already buy SS Turbos and Jumbos.

I'd also like to see a proper HC Reflex.

I had a Maestro Original and a Diamond Original but always fancied a Cannon. Never did manage to get hold of one. :(

I'd love kookaburra to re release the ridgeback . I had a size harrow around 1995 and still to this day can't remember what happened to it.

A GN four scoop; either the original GN500 or the more recent Viper.

From Newbury; bats with the 1980s style stickers, especially the Excalibur!

Gray nicolls sabre, or kookaburra Diablo. Wish I'd looked after my older bats now.

Going back to the ridgeback I much preferred the stickers in the late 90s that Ponting used. The front was all red(the more fuller kook design) and the back was red and green.Really hope they do re release this :)

The Gray Nichols Elite 500. Or maybe even Deano's old bats?

Agree on the Ridgeback. Based on the success of the Bubble releases, a Ridgeback must be a serious consideration for 2015. Won't be too long before we start seeing samples, how time flies!

Slightly off track, I'd like to see more retro style gloves, with much simpler colour schemes eg white and green on the kookaburra gloves in this pic or white or red gloves from GN like the one's Lara wore when he got his 375 and 501.

Are Fearnley doing a magnum ?  If not, would like to see them do it in it's classic shape and stickers, non of this modern twist stuff (The Slaz V12 is nothing like the original).

Softs wise, the Fearnley gloves with the green two finger extra padding on the bottom hand and the Buckskin pads (with velcro rather than buckles)

Also, the Newbery Merlin (with counter balance)

A Newbery Excalibur with more extreme shoulders than the TT!
