Title: Looking for a MASSIVE duffle bag.
Post by: Muffin on May 09, 2014, 02:23:32 PM
Title is clear. Got a fairly large rolly but fancy a duffle as sometimes I end up cycling with my kit on my back!

Been looking at the GN 1000 duffle (http://www.allroundercricket.com/cricket-bags/gray-nicolls-cricket-bags/gray-nicolls-duffle-1000-cricket-bag (http://www.allroundercricket.com/cricket-bags/gray-nicolls-cricket-bags/gray-nicolls-duffle-1000-cricket-bag)) which has an appealing price tag and, by the looks of things, is quite large.

A review or advice on that bag or any other big duffles people have had or know of is much appreciated. Had a quick look at the M&H CK22 but you never know until you get the thing.

Hi mate,

I got a Ton duffle bag from Vitas cricket for £40 and honestly its the best bag ive ever owned. espescially for the price.

One large pocket which is big enough for Batting pads, keeping pads, Helmet, Gloves both keeping and batting and also a pair of shoes. Has two internal bat pockets in the same section.

Two large Side pockets which I put my towel whites and shower equipment etc...

then a front pocket which I just use for small bits i.e valuables cricket balls handbooks etc....

Would recommend this bag to anyone. Also has heavy duty back plate with good shoulder straps.

It is very similar to the England issue duffle which is spoken about a lot on here.

£40 with postage from Jake and was with me in two days !!

Shamrock duffle bag for £35 posted. Slightly bigger than the GN1000. Holds more in the main section than most duffles

Wow, you make a compelling case. I'll look in to one if you recommend it so highly. I like the idea of the back plate to sort of maintain the structure of the bag

Yeah, I've seen these mentioned a bit. I'll definitely consider it. I went on your website earlier, however I couldn't find a pic of the bag. Any links to one?

In that case, could I get you to reserve me one? Pop me a pm when you've got them in.

Off topic, I was playing in a friendly the other week with some lads I think you sponsor, Castor and Ailsworth. We're back down there for a league match in 3 weeks time (hopefully with a new bag  :D)

Have you seen our offering (B3 Cricket?) - no compartments but just massive and at £20 they are a bargain - in stock and ready to go!

Yes mate, I did consider the B3 but the bag I've got currently hasn't got any compartments, and I fancy one with some little crevasses to stash my stuff in :)

The Ton duffle has also been vouched for quite vigorously by others on this thread!

No problem. I'll send you a pm now.

We don't have anything to do with Castor anymore unfortunately, you can read more here

Extremely interesting read. Sad that it came to the stage where you had to pry yourselves away from your own club - I don't know for sure but I think I've met a few of the committee gentlemen who you mention who were not in favour.  But kudos to Robin and yourself for making the difficult decisions. Wish you success and further progress for the coming season and beyond!

Received my TON duffle today from Vitas.

First off: great service and dispatch time. Thanks to Jake for sorting it out quickly after getting the stock in.

Initial reaction was: 'Look how small the box is; it can't be that big." I then proceeded to unfurl the beast to find it was actually quite big. Not until I transferred my kit over did I see fully it was big enough to store all my kit with ample room.

Huge main compartment with two lovely padded bat sleeves - no need for a cover anymore! Very spacious inside there.

The two side pockets stretch right the length of the bag and store all my gubbins, but personally I would of perhaps separated one of the side pockets in to two smaller pockets so you could have a bit more separation and not have to delve right to the bottom of the bag to get your shower gel.

It is big, but not mammoth like some of the deluxe wheelies. I realise that if it was too big, it would compromise the portability of the fact it actually is a duffle.

The main thing that stands out for me are the straps and back padding. Gives the bag a nice structure and feel and it stands up nicely.

A couple of things I would have liked is perhaps a boot pocket and a pocket on the top flap, but I'm thinking of sewing some mesh to the inside anyway for a bit of customisation!

Overall, very happy with the style and build quality - very sturdy and should last me a good while. Thanks again to Jake and Vitas for supplying it.

Our pleasure mate, this is a serious contender to the GN1000 in my opinion. Even more so considering it is actually available, and the GN1000 is sold out for at least another month.
