Title: separate bats for T20
Post by: The Palmist on May 13, 2014, 02:43:22 PM
Do people really use different bats for shorter version of the game?

And why?

How do you select a T20 bat?

I was just thinking of using my old SG bat so I can play all the rash shots without worrying about damaging my match bats.

Get a Monger for T20 stuff.
I hear all the proper batsman are doing it!  :D

I agree with the above. Hence I just wanted to use a normal but oldish bat.

use your normal bat and just play a little more attacking

I'm with Garrett - there isn't a need to have a separate bat however the demand is certainly there (as a result I've been sampling a few ideas myself, finally come up with something a bit different to the standard long handle/short blade too!)

You mean my mongoose was a waste if money??  :(

The fact I can't hit a ball with a full size blade at the moment, and the technicality that I work on the night my club plays hit & giggle is totally irrelevant here, I bought my MMI3 thinking it would guarantee me quick fire hundreds!  ;)

Completely agree with Garrett, I just don't understand people that use a heavier or different bat for 20/20, just use the one you're used to and swing it harder

It depends what works for you.

A shorter blade and longer handle is a slogger bat and might work better, but might not.

Trial and error.

I get t20 runs with a normal bat so why change?

I have a longer handle/ shorter blade Talisman.
I got it because i was curious to see how it went and it's now my number 1 bat. The shorter blade/ long handle works great for me.

I won the midweek league average with an mmi3 4 years ago with an average of 75.

I currently use a less extreme version, but it's still a longer handle, shorter blade, 5 50s and 2 tons in the last 3 seasons midweek, and an avg of 38 at 144 sr is more than good enough for me to warrant it's usage.

People may ask why i use a normal bat on a Saturday, as my average isn't as good. But as I tend to be a lot less attacking, I do prefer to have a full size blade.

And although I open in both formats, it is to completely different jobs out in the middle,a nd different job require different tools.

I used an Affinity Toro this week for 20/20,,,managed a nice 50
Liked the bat enough, that I'm gonna use it Saturdays

I'm all for tradition, but sometimes trying something new has its rewards

i have a mongoose mmi3 that i use in the lms. the main reason is that i use my duffle and have seperate kit to the club games. the other reason is that we use pinks balls which are really hard and dont want to damage my match bat
