What just turns up to games acting like a spectator and rips people off? What a low life!

They normally approach the club about nets, make themselves available for the Sunday. Then turn up on the Saturday and are extremely helpful with drinks, teas, groundwork etc. then they either offer to look after valuables or are aware of where they are and while in the field he disappears with the lot.

The last club he did, all valuables were placed in the boot of someone's car. He was in and around the changing room the whole time, stole the keys and the car with everything in it

My watch and wallet are staying at home till this is over. We have offered some members a tab at the bar so that less cash is brought to the club

I got my whole bag nicked once, since then I take enough for a couple of soft drinks at the bar afterwards (I drive) my match fee and that is it. No watch or wallet. I lock my phone in my car. If they want to take £10 and my kit then ok but losing your wallet is a ball ache getting everything replaced/cancelled

He or someone like him was operating last year. A few clubs in south east London and north Kent got done over. All valuables and car keys are now given to an umpire.

This really angers me!

He apparently cleaned a changing room out of everything but bank cards and took a Mercedes.

People didn't cancel their cards and he'd wrote the numbers down!!

I have been promoting PayPal as am alternative to money at our club.

Set up a club email that the treasurer has. Then most people can pay via their phone.

We keep valuables in the club safe during games.

Anything left in your kit bag is your own fault as there are several secure options.

I looked into doing that, but Paypal wants to take a massive cut of all transactions and with a small club like ours we couldn't really afford it.

Don't do it officially, just set up a hotmail account and get everyone to gift it.

Works ok for us so far.

Alternatively, the recent launch of paym is another thing you can use that is backed by most of the banks.

At the club I used to play at a guy would turn up on his bike, he clearly knew a thing or two about the game, but things started to go missing from changing rooms, we put 2 and 2 together, then he got caught in the act. A South Africa bouncer who played for us at the time, helped him understand the error of his ways and we never saw him again. ....

Also thinking about it a bloke at the club I play for now got his car nicked. The Sky TV where there at the time filming, I think Jason Gelispie was our osp, and the police got all the tapes and that, don't think he got his car back though ...

We had a bloke do our changing room a couple if seasons ago.

Bloke turned up, pretended to be watch for a bit, then went into the changing rooms and took all the cash.
Strangely he left car keys, iPhones ect, so was after quick cash. Shame we didn't catch him in the act, we could've closed the door and shown him stealing isn't tolerated!

The only comment I'd make is that I've always left the real valuables in the car and taken the car key on the field with me as I'm paranoid.

Luckily we never had this issue in our club,  ,we all leave our valuables in our kit bags but should be more carefull in the future.

It ruins the atmosphere before any game when you have to tell the oppo captain that a locked changing room isn't safe, even if you trust your own players. Yesterday the oppo brought 4 or 5 kids with them who were in and out of the clubhouse, changing room, bar with nobody watching them. If anything had gone missing (despite them deciding to eat some of the tea before we even finished batting) we would have had to ask questions of them.

A few years ago played a 20/20 one evening at Clifton Park in York. Just as we were going out to field, bloke comes over and asks if he can have the changing room key as he says we have left our scorebook in the changing room. Not thinking twice, we gave this chap the key and he went through everyone's pockets taking watches and money. Fortunately I had left my wallet in my car but this guy was so good at the deception that no-one could even remember what he looked like.
