Title: My latest kit purchase - Salix Gear
Post by: wayward_hayward on May 19, 2014, 09:48:41 AM
As it was my birthday last week, I decided to treat myself to some new kit (like any good forumite). I was having look through eBay and this bundle of Salix gear took my fancy.

I managed to get hold of a Falx Grade one and a Praestantia Players along with some Pod Black gloves and Pod Players pads. Both bats have been used with varying degrees of use. The Falx looks ready to go after I removed the scuff sheet and oiled her up. The Praestantia requires a bit of love, it's missing some stickers and has a couple of cracks but nothing major. Haven't used them yet but both feels nice in my hands.

The Falx after I removed the scuff and gave her an oil. Not sure it's true grade one with the blemishes, but it has 14 grains and pings nicely.

I had a look at the Salix website about sending one or both away for a bit of TLC but no prices, anyone know how much it would cost?

Hello, thanks for posting. I remember that auction on ebay, decent bundle of gear, hopefully you managed to negotiate a good deal.

I have recently had my 2009 Pod refurbished by Salix and was very pleased with the result.

The prices together with lots of good information can be found on the Salix website (bat care link, far left bottom corner).

In fact, the prices are not listed. Best to email them direct, that is how I commenced prior to deciding to proceed with the refurb.

I managed to negotiate the price, happy with what I paid in the end. I had a look at your refurbed Salix thread and it looked beautiful. I will contact Salix when I have a minute.

Quick update on this, used the Falx at nets last night and it wonderful! Pick up feels just right and on the few occasions I found the middle, the ball came off very nicely. I will be repairing the Praestantia over the weekend, hopefully it's as good as my Falx.
