Title: Who makes the new Woodworm range?
Post by: leeroy_acko on October 27, 2009, 08:32:51 AM
I used to be a big fan of the previous range, but unsure about the Sport HQ link up and where it all comes from. Anyone know?

Are the gloves and pads too? I would have guessed at SF for them.

I don't think the pads and gloves are, but know for a fact the bats are.

Sports HQ don't own them, they simply have exclusive distribution rights for Europe. I dont think CA make the woodworm stuff.

Have you seen the offer they are doing on their website:

"After purchase, return any old bat to us (yes, even that one at the back of your garage) and we will give you £50 in gift vouchers to spend on the site.
We'll pay for the collection, and when the bat gets back here, we'll donate it straight to worthy cricket charities, with help from the Professional Cricketers Association.
You get £50 in vouchers, regardless of what bat you give back. You get £50 for your old bat, we sell a new bat, and we are both helping charities. Win-win-win!"

Sounds like a good deal

You have to buy the £200 one and then send the old bat back. Then you will get a £50 VOUCHER to spend on anything sold by sportshq

Woodworm in the Aldi of the cricketing world.

Come on man. The gear looks very nice though, and the only we are getting for so cheap is because there is no middle man (like a retailer!). The price shouldn't make you think its bad etc.

Can you not help but speak rubbish. SportsHQ is a retailer.

OK, fine. If they are the ratailers, then the distributor is cut. It works both ways. They are the retailers and the distributors. Basically, you are getting factory shop prices because there is no wholesaler, importer etc. why should this be so hard to understand! its on their website as well!

Either way, its really disappointing the way it has gone downhill. I know their bats were made by County, I think,(by the way, why no references to them ever? some of their stuff was revolutionary and really good), but to me, it was the gear that won the best series ever, the Ashes 2005, and I loved it! Not the best softs but the bats just looked amazing with freddie and KP.

They were never made by Hunts County. Only the pro's bats were.

I thought they were made by CA...

I live the near the shop and popped in recently, they had some CA bats out that I was looking at, they were quickly picked up after I finished with them and put away, also there was CA clothes there, so I think it's a safe bet to say they are made by CA

Ca is the best bet....

I rang the store yesterday and asked. Woodworm is now made by CA.
Title: Re: Who makes the new Woodworm range?
Post by: Talisman on March 25, 2010, 08:03:14 AM
Wrong, it is made by FC Sondhi, if not then they were wasting their time knocking up loads of bats, 100's when I was there last month.....

CA make some nice bats but find their soft's very poor quality.

Well you learn something new everyday, are FC Sondhi still making puma, readers and slazenger gear Mike?
Title: Re: Who makes the new Woodworm range?
Post by: Talisman on March 25, 2010, 08:42:55 AM
Yes, mainly Slazenger but all the kit is made very well and the factory is so far ahead of all the rest.

CA does make Woodworm bats, I saw around 300+ bats all stickered up when I was in the CA factory 2 months ago. They were well hidden in a room.
I think their softs are made in India

Asad

Normally companies have more than one suppliers so I think WW bats are made both by Sondhi and CA

I have CA 12000 Plus soft and I find them really good. The quality and finish is really good. The new CA 12000 Plus gloves with shark toothed pittard are top notch gloves.
