Really hate umpiring my own team.A couple of weeks ago our keeper had a few words with me because I gave him out LBW middle and leg easy decision, low on the pad ,right back in his crease.
I told him so,but it still annoys me now 2 weeks later.
And no one ever admits they edged it even when they heard it on the boundary

Love umpiring my team as I can trigger them. Not found a good enough excuse to give redders out yet but I'm waiting lol
Seriously if it's out it's out and as long as you give the benefit of the doubt to the batsmen it should be fine. If it's plumb so be it.

Simple reason for that, I've not been in long enough this season :(

Yeah. Unfortunately, our opener got triggered a few times last season and its become a joke so we all want to open the sunday umpiring to try and 'get him'!
I have to admit - I do not like doing it. I umpire school games and have literally no bias what so ever (It's usually in my spare time so if I wanted to trigger someone, it would be because I wanted to go home - not because of bias!!) however I was called a cheat on two separate occasions last season by boys from other schools.
Dismay was not the word. If one of my boys ever called an umpire a cheat, that would be the end of his school cricket career - and I am sure the Head would have something to say too. Unfortunately, some people do not think those standards should be upheald.
I find this the same in some clubs. When I am bowling, of course I will be disappointed if I do not get something I think is stone dead but that is the nature of the game. I have never called an umpire a cheat - even when I know he is 'stone-walling' even the most blatant of decisions.
So what? I simply do not get some people and their reactions. Same with football. Why bother calling the officials cheats etc? Eventually no-one will want to do it and there wont be a game.
They would be wise to remember that the game can be played without the outspoken minority - it cannot be played without umpires. Respect them and get on with it.

Good example of this in our league game Saturday - the oppositions umpire gave their skipper an absolute shocker - back and across in front of all three but clearly hit it hard. He didn't mean to do it, it was a human error - but the amount of stick he seemed to get will doubtless make him wonder whether to give up his next free Saturday...

I learnt to score so I wouldn't have to umpire.
Last summer I offered the opportunity to trigger Buzz and get paid £50 for the privilege and nobody took my offer up!

Umpire honestly and if they are out then they are out. Play in the right spirit and if they moan then hey are just sore losers

Couldn't have said it better myself!

You knew he middled it and didn't call him back?

I had a horrible one a few weeks back,
Gave our opener out lbw, in all honesty he was in front of middle and leg and hit him just above his foot so bottom of the pad, for me it was out, he accepted the decision and walked off,
After i asked him if he hit it as our skipper thought he did, and he said he couldnt tell if it was bat or pad first, one of those everything happens kind of moments,
However as we umpire ourselves when they batted first we had two lbws and also two runouts both looked close
We both played in the spirit of the game and had a close match ended in a losing draw for us.

One of our lads refuses to play midweek cricket anymore due to him being trigger for non.
It was a cold damp night, we was chasing 140, he was the only decent bat in the seconds.
First ball he left.
Second, he went back, it can back in abit and kept low. Looked like it was hitting middle half way up to the spectators, and the umpires finger went up(vice skipper on the night)
The batsman called him alsorts of names as he left the pitch, got changed and went straight home. Twitter was filled with abuse that night and he's refused to play since.
Funny thing is, he doesn't dispute that he was out, he himself admits it was plum, he just fully believes that due to the circumstances, he shouldn't have been Given,
Strange thinking if you asked me.

I only play friendly cricket and as such we exclusively umpire ourselves. 9 times out of 10 I'll say whoever is umpiring is being fair, however there have been plenty of occasions were umpires from both the oppo and my team have been stonewalling, particularly as we play timed cricket so the draw is always on. It's just a quirk of the game we play, just have to hold on to catches or bowl them. I have been guilty of giving more doubt to the batsman than I should have probably as an umpire and there are probably just as many times where I would have been justified in giving a not out but have done so.

One of my teammates who is also a umpire in our league,by chance ended up umpiring us in a game last season. He was constantly talking to us in the field during the bowlers run up and getting us docked no balls.haha Luckily we won

This. People take league stuff way to seriously. Yes try hard etc but there is no need to stand by if you know here's a mistake.

My best mate gave me out two weeks ago. I'm still giving him grief.
I took it well considering....
