Me and my mates all have different views but what is better option for your toe, a toe guard, shoo gue, harden toe or just leave it??
-
tap my bat pretty hard in my setup, which results in whatever i use on the toe getting damaged.
i've tried toe guards and shoe goo but i end up knocking it off after a few innings. however i'd rather have something on there than nothing, in order to protect against water ingress.

Always used to have toe guards fall off. Pain in the backside.
Get a few layers of shoegoo on there. Sticks like preverbial to a blanket and if you get a few decent layers on there, it'll be good against the abrasions of the pitch as well.
I am well and truly converted to Shoe Goo. Praise be to Jesus!
-
I always use shoe goo, works perfectly at sealing the toe and keeping moisture out - you do need to reapply it probably monthly but its the best I've come across!
-
What's the view on a hardened toe!
-
I use the glue you get with the toe guard. 3-4 layers, dried hard and a lot lighter than the guard itself.
If you are using on harder surfaces, you may need to reapply a layer every so often, but not all the time.
-
Six coats of oil to the toe and you are done.

Who sells Shoe Glue?
-
Amazon

I recently had the same dilemma, as not for the first time my glued-on toe guard came off pretty quickly batting on a hard outdoor net on my old Newbury Mjolnir that's still going strong after ten or so years.
Following a genius/hairbrained idea, I've just fashioned one from black Milliput I've had lying around. It looks good and it's set hard now, so I'll let you know after Saturday's game if it was a genius or hairbrained idea. ;)

I had a similar question and made a decision to go with shoe goo. It was easy to apply and sticks much better.

I eBayed my stock of it, pretty cheap too

Shoe goo all the way. It gives me continence to jam down on Yorkers while trying to smash it at the same time. (Tennis balls only)

Careful with this, I can't remember the post but there was something where someone had a resin used as a toe guard, but when it was struck it broke, but took half the bat with it as it was stronger than the willow so the willow gave way.
I hope this doesn't scare you as it's a lovely looking stick!
-
Hmmm, fair point. I could see it taking a chunk from the toe with it if it shattered.
A good excuse for a new stick, but I wouldn't want it to end that way. Been through a lot, that Mjolnir and me.
Thinking about it, maybe going out in a blaze of glory in battle it is a good way to go for a Norse-inspired bat!

Hey Tejas, which one did you use? There are a whole bunch of them on Amazon.

It was a clear shoe goo. I will post a pic of it once I get home.

As promised, here is the picture of the shoe goo.

I'm On the brink of pushing a far superior product into the cricket market for use as a toe guard. Testing is underway, final discussions ongoing, we will launch soon. Keep your eyes peeled :)

I'm more excited than I should be about something like this. :-[
