Title: Millichamp & Hall £100 trade-in offer
Post by: Mattsky on May 30, 2014, 02:11:18 PM
Hmmmm. That Amplus looks even more attractive with a 100 quid off it...   ;)

(Mind you, even at 300 quid, I'd still prefer a top quality custom-made one from one of our splendid sponsors.)

As you say, £325 for a CK22 or £300 for a Amplus/Master is still a phenomenally strong price but price rich/knowledge poor are M&H target audience :)

Fair play to them!

Decent offer but surely they have a limit - what if someone walked in with a brand new £25 Sports Direct special??

I guess they'll look to refurb and sell the bats, must be some money in it on eBay etc - the £325/£300 per bat they'll get will still be higher than if they sold a bat to a retailer after all

conning barstewards are not taking the VAT off!!

i wanted to trade in my £25 MSR and get a 2.9oz MK1 Master for £245!!

im happy to be the middle man for any purchases if i can get them to remove the VAT!!

I return to England 1 July so would be able to sort delivery out then.

I don't think they will resell those bats.

As per their website
"
Unfortunately we are unable to return any of the traded in cricket bats, even in the event of a refund. Once traded in, the bat becomes the property of Millichamp and Hall, and will be reused on community projects or made available as refurbished practice bats. However, our standard returns policy still applies to all new bikes. You can find details here."

So they may take a cheap SD bat

So basically the rubbish bats that aren't worth anything will be given away (good on them tbf) and the decent bats will be sold on as refurbs

Fair enough that they're going to give some of them away though, thats a good enough gesture - its still a massive money maker overall though!

Lol, they've just copied the Evans cycles blurb!

It's just a simple discount dressed up as a trade in. I'd wager they expect to make nothing on their trade ins (though may get some goodwill by donating them to a cause or maybe a sneaky bit of extra cash if someone foolishly trades in a decent stick).

They make a packet on their bats - at £300 they're probably still overpriced (just less so!).

First year of Uni I bought an Advance, absolute gun until it broke after 3 months - at which point Charlie replaced it for free. Honestly one of the best brands I've dealt with - highly recommend

Its a promotion designed to get people talking and drum up business at what will now be heading into a slow r slower time of year - they can clearly make a decent profit selling at the £100 off level (I know because I bought two M&H bats for less than that from Paul a couple of years back and he will not have been taking a loss on them) so the bats will be no more really than a gimmick.  Some will be given to charity (doubtless for a write off against tax) and any decent ones that people are dumb enough to give away will be refurbed and sold on.
