After some swift advice. My nephew turns 9 on Saturday and in addition to a trip to Lords (yes he's spoilt) I'm trying to get hold of some pads small enough to fit him. He seem like average height for a 9 year old but struggles to get pads to fit.
He's playing a decent level of cricket (Worcestershire under 10's) but I wouldn't have thought a higher level of protection matters at this age group?
Anyone got any suggestions?

I have some small boys pads, GM 202. £20
Like you said, with softs this small the protection is fairly basic but seems adequate. They are nice and light which is important.

Hi,
Im keen to get some pads and gloves for my 4 year old son, who of late has shown a keen interested in having a net! He's tiny but can anyone recommend brands/shops that do kit for this age?
Many thanks

Please don't mate! Tennis ball, or at the very most windball at that age! He will have enough trouble hitting it, without having to worry about being padded up as well! Just stick him in the nets with a bat, and throw tennis balls down for him. He will get far more out of that!

I thought the same but am most kids of that age "want to be like daddy" so I thought some real basic gear would suffice. Maybe just some gloves would keep him happy?

I would just go with gloves mate to be honest!

Is that a stretton fox arm guard he is wearing for pads?
-
no, they are some sample keeping pads George had, being grey he didn't have much use for them!
the lid and gloves were sports direct specials...
it is great I have to bowl with a hard ball at him and he smashes it!!
his bowling is properly epic. the junior coaching at Surrey is brilliant.

My son (age 5) is the same I so bought him gloves, pads, bag and helmet from SD (all very cheap) to wear if and when he wants when i play on a saturday, because he wanted to be like dad. But he doesn't wear any of them for training in my u7's kwik cricket side or playing at home, although I do sometimes find him wearing his box around the house:)
Kit is definitely a lot cheaper (all the above for £25 including bag) than when I was a kid, I remember as a youngster going to cricket with my parents and using my dads old GN scoop, cut down of course. I also recall one of my mates who's dad also played in my dad's side having a St Peter bat.

Plumped for some small boys adidas Pro pads from a major online auction site ;) Apparently the RRP of these is £90!!! Yeah right...anyway, they are the smallest available size and just about fit my nephews diddy legs.

Sadly my son has no interest in being like Daddy because he already thinks he's better than me. He's six.

I have no sons - only daughters, and they both think the game is utterly stupid! That is until the youngest reluctantly came down to the club for a drink and discovered most of the 'fit boys in her year' train there....................bugger! Don't know how I feel about that.
On the other hand, Mrs Fattus wore my brand new cricket sunglasses to chop onions on Sunday.

Could you not use that to your advantage.
Your daughter could help with the teas to impress them, which would mean shed need to practice making cakes, and someone would have to taste the cakes... ;)
