And for the third time at my club a ball has gone through the gap between a grille and the peak of a helmet!
It happened last Saturday, a keeper was stood up to a medium pacer. The batsman edged it and bang, ball goes between the grille and the peak. It was a Masuri Titanium (obviously the old style) so not exactly a cheap option.
Luckily the keeper was okay (two black eyes and a seam mark cut on the bridge of his nose) but it goes to show the new helmet regulations are there for a reason.
On one hand the helmet did it's job by preventing a more serious injury, but at the same time if he's been wearing an Ayrtek (other new regulation meeting helmets are available) he wouldn't have been hit at all.

:o three times :o :o :o
Time to invest in a pile of Ayrteks

I will say it's been 3 times over 5 years, but it's still worryingly regular.
Considering most people won't see it at all we must have rotten luck!

Our 2nd XI opener had his jaw broken two weeks ago by a return throw which came in off an astro turf wicket.
Some people really get some rotten luck!

I saw a split webbing and an open dislocated finger in consecutive balls last week. Absolute bloodbath!
