Hey guys thought I would show you my new purchase. It's my birthday monday and my grandad who sadly passed away last month after a long illness wanted to get me a new bat. I had always wanted a six6 ever since I first saw one. Love the stickers, profile and all the ones I have picked up feel really good.
So after a recent topic some will not like the price this bat cost but let me make it clear I have no problem paying £x for a bat if I want one. Will I use this every week no, do I care no. This is a bat that will have great sentimental value to me. I paid £400 for this bat through a mates friend who works at Romida and ordered this for me from GM.
This is 2.9 with lovely grains, standard profile and an amazingly huge bat for the weight with 40mm edges. There is none of this hard pressed blade on this bat and if anything this needs knocking in as feels very soft. The middle is very long when tapping on the mallet and old balls. Really like the new ripple grips as well.
Here are some pics.

Lovely bat fella
Are the players edition stickers darker blue than the "normal" Six6 or has my dodgy eyesight struck again??
-
That is an awesome piece of wood, hope you score tons of runs with it :)
-
Beautiful bat
That's how a players bat should look
-
Now that's a stunning bat! Huge for 2.9!
Finishing looks class
There was a time when you couldn't buy a bad GM bat, no matter the price point or model

That's quite a sweeping statement. I think the bad ones must have all been shipped to our local sports shop when I was at school....
This, however, looks stunning!

Of the 7 that've passed through my hands (I still own 6 of them) I haven't had a bad one yet.
But as willow is a natural product it really can be luck of the draw sometimes.

ive had a fair few gms, original purist, purist 2, current purist, hero, halo, flare. and all but one was lovely.
despite it feeling wonderful when wafting, my current six6 original is seemingly a plank when striking a ball, i have lent it out to a batsmen that nets alot in a hope it opens up though.
yours looks wonderful soulman, ive always wanted a players profile gm, but due to weight issues, i doubt ill ever get to use one.
-
That's a great looking bat, and roots looked huge on the tv yesterday. Nice to see you got a low weight as well
-
I think the six6 is the best of the current GM range and that looks a belter, nice grains and very nice profile,
I reckon they would have had a better response to the purist if it was shaped like the original
-
Look an absolute stunner Chris, I love the Six6 shape think it could become a modern classic like the Icon.
Sorry to hear about your grandad, hope this bat brings you many runs and lots of good memories :-)
-
i find it amusing its called the six6 as it used by joe root.
route 66.
wasily amused though
-
very easily...
-
Love the Six6 shape and this one looks very nice.
Hope it brings you many runs...
-
Chris it's pleasing to read that you have brought yourself a bat with your late grandad in mind.
-
Quality piece of willow I am sure your Granddad will have many hours looking down at you scoring all your runs ENJOY ;)
-

Thanks for the lovely comments guys about the bat and also the reference to my grandad. He was a very talented wicket keeper batsman (must run in the family) he played some county cricket for Warwickshire in the early 1940's only a handful of games and played for the Army and mixed military services. He scored over 50 hundreds in his career and was the reason I fell in love with the game when he used to take my out as a little lad to watch Bexley CC where he played a lot of his club cricket.
Anyway looking foward to having a little run out on a Sunday with this once I have made sure she is knocked in fully
-
lovely bat that Chris, my birthday also on Sunday, wish someone can buy me some stunner !!!
-
Poignant cricketing story behind this, expecting 200 not out with it soon
