Title: GN Dynadrive Opening up
Post by: kouservice on June 18, 2014, 08:23:36 AM
I love the feel and pick up of the Dynadrive, but it is really annoying the way they are pressed. I have used the bat for over a season but still the ping is not the good.

What you guyz think, shall i dump the Dynadrive or give it some more time.  Its really annoying to wait more than a season, when there are lot of options available.

What do you mean by not the goods mate, has it lost its ping or has it never gained any after hardening up?

Give it to your team mates and net the hell out of it - until it opens up.

Ive heard the same about the Powerspot and scoop.  Anyone know what grade they use for these?  Some look lovely and some like dog poo.

That said, GN gave the scoop to a few pros last year so they must make them with grade 1.  Havent seen any pros using the dynadrive or powerspot though  ???  I always saw Cook as a powerspot man!

Jaques Rudolf uses the dynadrive and Bairstow uses the powerspot but theres will be made from reserve or 'pro' willow I assume

and it will be pressed softer on all dozen bats each pro gets. Consumers get bats made to last (or at least until the warranty runs out) and that requires harder pressing.

Youre right, of course.  I think Bairstow is the right bloke to carry-off the powerspot.  It does look the nuts!

My teammate had a GN scoop and it was a plank. Even after 2 seasons there was hardly any ping from that bat.
This year i received a powerspot from IJC and that is way better.

Occasionally you get planks. Can be the same with any manufacturer using a natural product.

Having said that back at school my mate had a Duncan Fearnley that was a cheap plank. He kept knocking it in and playing with it and eventually it turned into the pingiest bat I have ever used. I hit my first ever six with that bat when he gave it to me after he stopped playing with a straight drive up the hill. Lovely memories.

As we all know about Dynadrive, its hard pressed. I was hoping that after a season at-least it will open up, but the ping is almost same as a new one.

Perhaps you could send it to one of the sponsors with a lignum hammer to give it a good belt?

I doubt its about the willow, its more how the pressing is done. I have bought a 3 cheap Unbranded bats from Jake(Vitas) last year for my club and 2 of them are going guns. I have removed the stickers and sanded them and everyone in the club feel they are some great willow bats.

Only problem of not letting go the Dynadrive is the pick and feel is perfect for me.

I was always told that GN use the low end wood in the scooped models, I seriously would like to try the Dynadrive but all those I've seen being used have had poor reviews from the users.
