why such a wide bat? but yeah i suppose you could if you rang a batmaker up? Might need a wider cleft than usual so not all will do it...but i don't know
-
It would be illegal, bat cannot exceed 4.125 inches I think. may be slightly wrong though
-
Won't fit in most batmakers presses surely?
-
Length and width of the bat – The overall dimensions of the bat have not changed from the previous Law. The length of the bat,
when the lower portion of the handle is inserted, shall not be more than 38 in/96.5 cm.
The width of the bat shall not exceed 4.25 in/10.8 cm at its widest part.
Except for bats of size 6 or less, the handle, measured from the top of the handle to the bottom of the splice, must not exceed 52%
of the overall length of the bat.
Permitted coverings, repair material and toe guards, not exceeding their specified thicknesses, may be additional to the dimensions above.

yh but this may not stop bat makers making it for him??? just as fusion made a full full length skyers (for charity matches) ...as long as he doesn't use it in matches. Is it not allowed for the bat makers to even make an illegal bat for him?

but then surely its a complete waste of money if you cant use it in matchs.

definately! completely pointless! but would they make it?
-
Batmaker would just not press it and would hand hammer like that L&W bat. I'm not sure what width a cleft is though, but you won't be able to go thicker than that
-
You can make the width of the cleft as wide as you want - but standard is around 5-5/12 inches when you buy them from wrights or wherever else. I have a 6 inch wide cleft drying at my house at the moment - but anyway - no harm in trying, some batmakers like a challenge!
-
Did anyone see one of Julian Millichamps videos and he pulls out a really old and very wide bat?
Look ridiclous
-
Yh i saw that, check out the heartwood on it too :D ;D
His batmaking video is great.
-
its so weird, it just looks like a plank

This is encouraging. I wonder if you could kind ask the pod shover (whom ever u gonna take that 6 inches wide cleft) to find out if he can make a 5.25 inches wide bat?
So far, bat makers I talked to (mostly in UK) cannot have it fit in the presser and refused making one for me.
-
How come you want it so wide?
-
Its not really a whole lot wide. We are talking about only an inch extra from the standard width, which means only half an inch wider on each side.
