Right ive just bought some grips from play and they appear to be incredibly difficult to put on. has anyone got any tips of how I can deal with a non co-operative grip?
-
warm it slightly to make the rubber more pliable???
-
leave them on the window sil in the sun?
-
You can always put it on with a plastic carrier bag. if its being stubborn

Hit the Gym... ;)

hows that?

Change the grip on a cricket bat without a cone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpnG8p2I_JU#)
-
Always use this method myself - makes things so much easier (and less elbow grease required)
-
I've used this method a few times before; works well with chevron grips and octopus grips, but is damn near impossible with spiral grips and totally impossible if you want a second grip on an existing one. In the end, I gave up and bought a gripping cone for £6 because I am a lightweight!
-
I tried the plastic bag method once - the bag stretched and peeled apart!
Lesson learnt - choose your bag wisely! (or buy a cone!)
-
Talcum powder sprinkle the powder inside your new grip and onto the bat handle.fit grip as normal Remove any excess power from grip with a slightly damp cloth on completion.
-
I tried talc. The grip didn't stay on, even with tape on.

For a second grip use TWO carrier bags,
Put one over the already attached grip, and the second one inside your new grip. And wallah. Second grip on,

I never use any other method now since I discovered that bag video a couple of seasons ago. Prior to that I had a Duncan Fearnley thing that expanded the grips. It was very fiddly but when it did work it did a good job.

What is wrong with a good old fashioned grip cone?
Does the job very well. Takes me less than a minute to apply a grip.
-
Agree with Jake on this. Grip cone ftw.
-
Tried the bag method. Ended uop with the bag splitting and the grip half on. Ended up having to cut away both bag and grip. Not ideal. Get a cone mate, much easier.....
-
A cone is a lot easier, as it is reuseable and less likely to fail!
-
I prefer using the cone. I very tried the bag method but for kept ripping the bag.I've also got the gm grip applicator which is very good but only on certain grips, downside is trying to put a grip on a already gripped handle. That is a near impossibility
-
I put some vaseline on the handle and inside the grip.goes on lovely.
it dries up so no problems with the grip slipping
-
Get one of the youngsters in the team to do it.

Vaseline and a tapering wooden cone used to roll something rubber on, doesn't sound dodgy at all...

Kwik Grips are the best applicators, put most grips on in seconds except Octopus - but they are poocakes, so I don't care about that.
