Title: My New Stretton Fox Thigh pads
Post by: Fearless Fly on June 18, 2014, 01:32:18 PM
Gday all,

I was on here few weeks ago looking for a new thigh pad, after much discussion i too the plunge and decided to invest in quality

I have been working with George from Stretton Foxand rate his service 10/10. He has been brilliant in assisting me with my bespoke design
Hopefully be at my door in a couple of weeks where i can do another video review but here is a photo from CAD to get the idea.
Disregard the fonts on the right they were suggestions, the one i have gone for is the one on the thigh pads

Cheers

Hi mate,

Pads look lovely! I've always been tempted to try strettons.

Just out of interest, who do you play for?

Well As promised photos of my Foxes in AUS, George has done himself and the company very well, quick replies, quick postage and most importantly, the quality of finishing is superb.
George has include 2 sets of straps, the white elastic and the black towelling. I had only asked for the Black towelling but as is the man, he sent 2 sets as being based in Aus, having 2 straps is a lot safer and cheaper than posting a separate pair later down the track. He also sent a rucksack for them to be stored in so they can not get lost in my kit bag.
I have a Game on sunday in AUS (weather permitting) and I a planning to use them on Sunday but from my quick testing(wearing them and banging with a mallet) the protection on them is fantastic, they make my aeros look like cardboard and i am glad i made the purchase.
I Thank George for being very professional and understanding on organizing these and happy to give him the praise that Streton Fox deserve.

So to finish off, here are some pics. Will have a video hopefully early next week after using them

Cheers

Seriously get strettons, they look and feel so much better than aeros IMO but it would depend on the level you play, as i play a High level i need the protection

My StrettonFox are from the early days when the company was conceived, now when I see the recent ones I'm extremely chuffed at the fact that George's research has not stopped, he is continuously trying to make them better and better. For instance, name is patched, better material for sweat absorption, ventilation et cetra, someone more technical than me can speak for hours as change is evident!!

I had a spare one which I took to summer camp where Pakistani team was training and showed to few (amicable) players and all were highly impressed by it but sadly I was unable to give it to anyone due to sizing constraints.

It is amazing what George can do know with the printing on to the pads themselves, I cant believe how good the font looks on mine, has come up so well and hopefully George continues to produce such quality garments!

Do Stretton Fox do an combination set in the same vein as P1s/P2s?

they do an inner and outer thigh pad but they also do a hip guard but in an essence they are an innner and outer thigh pad that you join like any inner thigh. Just hit up the website and speak to George.

It's a'ways sensible to make joint decisions like this with the wife, my other half and I bought a Laver a couple of weeks back...she only returned from a 3 week trip to England last night and is yet to find 'our' new purchase.

Would love to be a fly on the wall when that happens

I like the look of these pads however the cost seems far too high to warrant purchasing them when I find the P1's do a decent job.

P1's do a decent job yes but after wearing these it would change your mind, i think they are far more comfortable than aeros and will know after Sunday if the protection is better but in my early testing i think it is chalk and cheese between the 2.

The good news is she's fairly clueless about anything cricket related so I could tell her it cost $50 and she'd believe me...lying to my missus about cricket gear, it's almost like I'm hiding a secret crack habit...

I still live at home so you could imagine the surprise when i received 20 bats on my door. that was a little harder to explain....

My mum thought that $100 is expensive for 'a piece of wood'. Still haven't told her it actually cost $200

Dont come home with a legend then, had a mate who did that and his missus nearly kicked him out

A legend gold costs $1300. A holiday can cost less than that

I'd rather pay to fly to the UK, and watch a custom bat being made in front of my eyes then personally fly it back with me.

Is crazy money, no one can justify paying $1300 for that. Is more an ego booster in my opinion

It would be interesting to see how many they sell,  I hope none the price is ridiculous, but I supsect all 80 will go.

Absolutely they will, they will sell out before the season starts which is crazy, 80*1300= $104000

They won't be retailing for that price and yes they will sell easily.

You're right about them retailing for less. GCCC are selling them for the bargain price of $1175.

Meulemans are $1099 and Kingsgrove will be a bit cheaper than that. The GM Watson players is not far off that price this season.
