To celebrate Ian Bells 100th Test appearance, Kookaburra have released 100 special edition Impulses. They carry slightly different stickering which will be used by Bell during this Test. Each bat is uniquely numbered and comes with an authenticity card as well as being signed by Bell himself.

100 bats were made available, initially one each to the top 100 stockists of Kookaburra. It seems not all stockists took up the option so we will have 3 of them available as of Monday, if not before.

Are they made from select clefts or as they are carrying a signature made purely to be a display bat?

I'm not quite sure how getting a player to write their name on 100 bats is a piece of cricketig history, more like a blatent ploy to rid stupid people of money. Getting his match bat from his 100th test would be a piece of cricketing history.

I suspect we will keep one for ourselves for display purposes.

The other 2 might be used as prizes, we may sell. They will be priced at £200 for those who are interested in purchasing. The main draw should be the signature/authenticity card, the unique stickers as well as the exclusivity of having 1 of only 100 bats available. Equally the quality of the willow should be more than good enough to use as an actual bat if you so desire.

Does it irk anyone else that some English players are sponsored by an Australian-based brand?
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, with the game being a global sport, brands having global presence and players playing all over the world from one week to the next - but still.

Taking that a step further, why do people opt for Kookaburra when there's so many quality boutique and big-name home-grown brands and podshavers to choose from and support?
Because as a nipper their favourite player was sponsored by them? They like the stickers? They don't give a monkey's uncle where it's made?

Similarly, why would Aussies opt for an English-based brand? (Aside from choosing English willow - that's understandable.)

Don't want to ignite a flame war. Just wondering, thasall.  :D

A biggest kahuna is still the best bat I've ever used. If they remade that bat(instead of the ultra menace) I'd be back with the kookaburra brand.

I don't really care what origin the kit is as long as it performs.

I have now added the bat to the website. We are keeping one for ourselves and one of the remaining two has gone, leaving a solitary IB100 remaining.

Because on a whole they make very good gear, plenty of value in their mid and low range bats.

Does the name Ian Bell inspire bats sales?
I like him as a player but I wonder how many kids want to be Ian Bell when they grow up?

If you've seen his wife then the answer is probably quite a lot of kids!

Shouldn't you start your own thread for this Paul and not on Vitas thread?
