I'm 16 playing regular cricket these days. Twice or three times a week, I was thinking about getting the 5 star 808 version of this bat at £159.99. So I though this would be the best place to get some advice and an insight into the bat. I've heard GM are very reliable and as I'll be getting a SH I will be keeping the bat for a few seasons if I do get it. So would it be worth me getting this bat?

The 808 model is an excellent compromise between price and quality. The Icon is a great profile with a high spine, a big high middle and a featherlight pick up. The F4.5 face profile gives the best of both worlds in edge size and shot control and at £160 its a great deal looking around some retailers.

As a bit of a GM whore I'm going to say get one!
Would go for a 606 personally as you can get some absolute bargains in the lower range.

Speak to Jake at Vitas cricket mate who are a forum sponsor, he gets excellent GM bats mate, the only thing I would say about the icon is that the middle is quite high so this may be a factor depending on what number you bat and how bouncy the tracks you play on are. You may find the six6 is a better option.

Having used both they are both nice profiles, and I love the six6 stickers. But I will say my icon has a longer middle than my Six6 (and picks up lighter).
You won't go wrong with either of them though mate, all down to personal preference at the end of the day :)

I went for the 606 and the quality is fantastic, can't go wrong for 100 quid.

Only paid 106 for this, superb price if you ask me.

ah not too bad, my 606 had more grains and much better pick up than the 808's in store which is why i chose the 606

why does topic say 4.5 if pic has f7

Because I originally planned on getting the F4.5 but the F7 was available at a bargain price. Since I'm rather new I'm not sure on changing the title.
