Title: Ebay Wavex
Post by: Urame on July 01, 2014, 07:50:44 AM
Hi all,

I happened to be fortunate enough to pick a Wavex up on Ebay, the guy I bought it off paid 200+ at the start of last season, spent most of last season opening it up with a mallet, managed to play 5 games with it then his back went.

In short I paid a very cut price for a knocked in, barely used Wavex and I have to say... It is a gun!

Certainly a head turner as well, everyone in the changing room picked it up and waved it around and left me grinning like a proud father.

If you get a chance to have a go with one of these. Do it! Though not mine, thats for my hands only!

The bat never existed, so instead of coming clean he's done a runner  ;)

What is the difference between a normal bat and a "wavex" one? Is it just a marketing gimmick?

The wavex handle is bobbly

What does this wobbly handle achieve?

What does this wobbly handle achieve?

I would assume the bobbles give a ridged effect aiming to make it less likely to slip in the hand

I'd be very surprised if it was wobbly!

The bobbles supposedly dampen the vibrations more than a normal handle

That's strange, some items are bobbly to enhance the feel of vibration...

Kippax Website Description:- Wavex is a unique cricket bat handle designed to improve power and drive by re diverting energy from the handle to the ball impact point. How does it work?
The WAVEX incorporates a unique wave structure into the cricket bat handle. This wave (or ripple) is designed to vastly reduce friction/vibration by dampening and redirecting this energy back to the impact point and so transferring more energy back tot he ball. In conventional bats energy travels along a straight line form the impact to the handle, In a WAVEX this is prevented by the cutting edge wave system.
