Morning All,
As some of you will be aware, on Monday we broke the milestone of 1 million YouTube views!! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkoUeiw2U20&list=UUIerErbsjvrlqWp_0TgIYjw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkoUeiw2U20&list=UUIerErbsjvrlqWp_0TgIYjw)
To celebrate, we decided to give away my top 5 bats of the month to our top 5 customers, as we simply couldn't have reached 1 million views without them! Some of the 5 are forum members and will be receiving their bats in the next few days. I am sworn to secrecy about exactly which bat you will be getting, but it will be one of the five in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlYaCQuN3vY&list=UUIerErbsjvrlqWp_0TgIYjw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlYaCQuN3vY&list=UUIerErbsjvrlqWp_0TgIYjw)
Thanks to everyone else who helped us get to 1 million - it was much quicker than expected!
We may do something similar for 2 million views, so don't stop watching (and buying!)... ;)
Cheers,
Paul
-
Dam it. New I should have bought more from you. Doh
-
Are you sworn to secrecy about which forum members are in your Top 5 Customers?
-
For now, yes. I would be surprised if they don't come out of the closet on this thread soon, though!!
-
I think I got one. There is a guy called Gaurav that I follow on twitter, and looking through his bat photos, a lot of them have IJC stickers on them.
-
I'm a subscriber. Just too far away to visit your shop in person but love hearing about UK bats. Your knocking in videos were great and I recommend them to others.
Manufacturers should realise honest video reviews sell their bats. Hope they generate business for you too.
-
Great idea Paul, I think it's a really nice touch to reward your best customers like this.
There are some people on here who I think have bought loads of kit from you, I'd guess people like cover drive or tushar sehgal must be in with a shout.
If only it was done on the earliest customer rather that highest spending then I may have been in with a shot after hassling you for an ayrtek lid while you were still sorting the shop out.
-
I'm a sub of the channel as well. I am in the same situation as sarg, as i'm in aus.

Yep, same with me. Love the videos, keep them up!
-
I'm one of the five, got an email off Paul yesterday to let me know. He wouldn't let on as to which position i'm in though!!!!
-
Very good idea Paul, very generous too!
You must have too many bats in the store if you've giving them away now...if you have any more space that needs clearing I could look after some for you... ;)
-
Sarg and Average Cricketer: we ship to Aus regularly! You get VAT off, which means a 16.67% discount on all kit bought from us! Shipping is pretty reasonable too, especially for bats. My new colleague, Neil, spent 10 years living in Perth and he knows first hand that buying a bat out there costs a lot more than getting one shipped from us...
-
We meant that it is too far away to go and physically visit your store. Thanks for letting me know that there is a discount.
-
Nice gesture, Paul. And keep up the fine work. :D
-
Tallied up that I've spent 525 at Paul's place! And I'm not top 5. There must be some big buyers out there with ijc.
Now if only jake at vitas did this comp I may stand a chance......
-
I got one , Thank you Paul and looking forward for the surprise.

Top news Jon! Fair to say which ever bat you get you will have to bring down to a net one day ;)

I sold it to one of the 1st's at the weekend!

Alright mate

Thanks Paul. I'll keep that in mind and unless I'm buying another Fisher (recommended to Aussies who want to buy a true Aussie bat) I'll be in touch.
Either way I'll be singing the praises of all the forum sponsors to my teammates. We get so ripped off here by the major outlets.

Rebel sport isn't bad, they have a 40% off sale on all bats for a week. I agree, we are getting ripped off, who would pay $300 for a grade 3 bat?
-
Agree very generous of you Paul. Hope your business grows as it deserves to.
-
Great job on Videos, million more views to come...keep it up :)
-
Very good way to reward loyal customers I must say, for a business to give away 5 bats when its a single shop is a great gesture.
I must say they must be very special if on performance they are better than any Salix, Newbery or H4L bats you have in stock so well done the lucky 5.

Not even close, Chris, unfortunately!

XE converter must be playing up for me, taking off VAT and adding shipping on a few of your Spartan bats doesn't seem to be working out cheaper. There have been times of course when the exchange rate has been more favourable but it's not the case now. I can't see much value in paying the same or higher price over the net when you could go to a local store and get the feel of the bats. Different story of course if it's an English brand unavailable here.

Of course it depends on the bat, and the exchange rate at the time, but quite often it works out cheaper in getting them from us. Also Neil has told me that shops out in Aus don't hand-pick their bats either, so he believes the quality is a lot worse out there too. I haven't been to the shops myself, but he has many times, so I thought that was interesting to hear...

If I had the money this is something I'd love to do in Aus. Definitely think there is a niche for a good quality cricket shop stocking hand picked bats run by people who know their stuff.

Totally Agree! Something that i think of all the time.
-
I agree, would love to start a store like that! The closest thing we have are places like Orange Sports (which I have never been to), which aren't in chains like Kingsgrove, GCCC, and Rebel, etc.
-
Well it's obvious why we are here then. Better service, knowledge, pricing and selection. Hand picking gives us buyers huge confidence that even a low priced bat will play well. That's why even though we don't have the same available in Aus, we can buy from Paul and his team as well as the other great suppliers on this forum. Word of mouth is the best way to get new business and there is nothing but positive reviews for all the forum sponsors. I'm not buying local if I have no confidence.
-
Well it seems the next logical step is for us guys to set up a store. Seeing as I first mentioned it I'll let others join and put forward all the money. :-[

Which specialist cricket store have you purchased from in Australia has left you with no confidence?

That sounds loaded. Maybe we start a new topic abou Aus shops and discuss there rather than sidetrack this thread. You start it and I'll give you an honest answer.

Fair enough, suggesting Australian retailers are ripping people off just rubs me the wrong way I guess.

Don't mean to offend anyone and perhaps I'm not comparing apples with apples.
I have had some poor experiences and have found that I have learned more about bats from videos that IJC have produced than I ever did in a local store.
That said where I am specialist stores are limited and I have no doubt eyebrows would be raised if I grabbed a mallet and started tapping up a bat in Amart or Rebel in front of the helpful 17 year old sales clerk.
-
Rebel are ok if you want Joggers.

I actually grabbed a mallet and knocked bats at Rebel. Someone told me to stop ;) IJC is my favourite Youtube channel. Closest thing to picking a bat up and tapping it up, without actually touching it!

The delivery of my free bat will be made on Friday. So a day and a bit to wait to see where I came in the top 5!!
I'll try to get some pictures up if I get chance
