Did anybody else see these during yesterdays t20 coverage? I honestly don't know if I think they are hideous or awesome.I know they would be a sledgers wet dream if I came out in these.

he wore a black pair for most of last season cant understand why he would pick red but i dont particularly like converse anyway
-
Got to be an injury waiting to happen surely...
I bet he gets some stick in the middle!
-
If it's the same as last year, he'll just keep wicket in them. Not really enough protection for the yorker to bat in them!

Screams village to me but each to their own.

Village? Billy Big Cojones more like!

On a not too dissimilar not you could also say they make him look like a knob! :D

As a PE Teacher my students wearing Converse for any physical activity is a big no no.. mainly as there's no support for the ankles when turning and not much support underfoot. But then there's a lot of argument these days about the impact of trainers and soles on a whole range of conditions and going back to flatter soles seems the in-thing at the mo.
Regardless, each to their own as he must find them reasonably light and comfortable especially as he's had them spiked.....
The Red... for the viewers I think...

Makes me laugh a bit really when people get slated for not wearing the 'norm' when playing sport.
I can remember watching a programme a few years back now and it was some Street Football competition programme that was done by Wayne Rooney and the guy known for saying 'Tekkers' (can't remember his name).
In one of the challenges, one of the best footballers was wearing a pair of pumps. Rooney basically slated him for wearing them and when he asked why he wore them he just said they were light and comfy.
I thought to myself, Rooney's sponsor Nike will have spent £millions on research and development into reducing the weight of football boots and trainers to make them comfier and yet he's probably bought something that feels even comfier at Primark for £3. Who's the one that should be slated really? If they had a Nike tick on and was endorsed by Rooney they would be seen as a great innovative product!

And as an aside, surely as a keeper, you aren't running around anyway...

In regards to being a keeper I did think about it a bit when I saw him stood up, especially to the seamers, that it would seriously hurt if a Yorker happened to get through or a bottom edge.
I do wear trainers sometimes midweek when keeping and hope I don't get one on the end of the toes!
-
They look terrible, I like converse but that's ruined them. Personal preference I suppose though.
-
They are certainly a talking point.
Personally, I quite like them, light comfy, you can't tell they are spiked without a close look. Bit funky, bit difference, and they have the rubber bit on the toe which gives you a bit more protection than the regular trainer.
If I had the money to get a white pair spiked up, they would be ok for fielding in. Not sure I would bat in them though.

This is all about his Ego, in a way it's like he's saying "I'm better than this standard" simply because he's ex pro.
A cricketing version of peacocking. He did it last season, a different pair of Cons though, and even kept wicket with his iPod in...
They may be light and comfy, I know I love my converse, but there is no ankle protection and although a keeper doesn't run. They shuttle side to side a lot, one slip and he does an ankle ligament!
On the other hand I am in love with those pads. Had a look at them in White and they lose so much class when they get the CK22 blue splattered on them :(
Also having seen the price, I really hope I fit in Youth!!!

For the people saying there's no ankle support, he's actually wearing high tops.
When did he keep with an iPod in? I like the converse but that's just ridiculous

Still not sufficient ankle support.
Converse were originally 1920s basketball shoes, 100 years of technology since...
It was a T20 evening game, I can't remember which. Apparently he also did it when playing around age 15 at school

I think it's a good look for a T20, why not be a bit different. It would definitely encourage some banter and there's nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't recommend it for test cricket, but for a format that is intended to attract young kids to cricket, it's not a bad idea.

Even if he had a white pair made special, Bedwetter isn't likely to play test cricket any time soon!
He'd have to remember to charge his iPod before a day in the field too...
-
I wasn't specifically thinking about Kiewswetter at test level, just anyone in avant garde footwear. I agree that he's nowhere near test level, mind you that hasn't stopped Bairstow getting a game as a keeper ;)
-
cant see how he's going to replace prior
-
when he wore them last year buttler kept wicket. kieswetter was fielding on the boundary in front of us and certainly got a gew comments
-
They are hideous and why would anyone wear Converse while playing sports?
In fact I would walk out of any store that claims all their shoes are unisex.
That is what I was told a few years (like 5) ago when I walked into their store.
-
They are unisex though,
I used to live with a Polish girl who had size 9 feet. Often borrowed her white low tops when she was out of town. Not that she knew.
In before abuse: Did not borrow any other of her clothing.

Of course, that's what they all say ;)
-
hasnt he done this for a few years now, i remember he kept in black pairs last season in the t20 as well, i like the idea personally gives the game a good talking point for the game for once :)
-
im pretty sure its a reciprical relationship between him and the Shoe Doctor thats based in Taunton, CK gets some attention through wearing them and the Dr gets kudos for being able to spike up anything (including custard creams) for people to wear as part of his service.

So you mean to say she has bigger feet than you or the same size?
As per the shoe size rule, do we also assume she also had bigger a ______ ?

We were the same shoe size, there I must also presume she had the same socks as me. I presume that's where it was going :P

To be fair, you could drive a bus through that gap he has in his lid, it was an accident waiting to happen. I have mine set on a level where the ball would have to hit either the peak or the grill before coming in and hurting the money maker.
-
Masuri won't be happy with this happening, especially when he could've been wearing the vision series!

Or they will be delighted, people might rush to go buy the new ones.
-
My current masuri has a gap big enough for the ball to get through ??? My theory was the chances of the ball getting through the gap are pretty remote but with pitches being rock hard and the bounce I was facing this Saturday its time to retire the old and use the new vision masuri.

That looks nasty!
