Title: BlankBats Gold Review
Post by: Cover_Drive on July 09, 2014, 04:43:19 AM
Much awaited and delayed review of this phenomenal bat.

Going back in time, Tai told me he will be driving down to his batmaker and asked me if I wanted anything, I said "Something exceptional in 2.8-2.9 range." Upon his arrival and after gazing at endless willows at his batmaker, he immediately sent me pictures of four bats which were destined for a test player and called me asking "Out of four which one do you like?" All had same profile, weight et al to which I responded "Choose whichever you would choose for yourself, I trust your intuition."

After sometime it arrived and it was spot on, lovely aesthetics, lovely livery, big chucky bat. Measures 40 mm at its peak in 2 lbs 8 ounces. The pick-up is not "feather light" as we claim which I don't mind as I now seem to prefer such feel. It is very well balanced bat with meat spreaded thoroughly. After 80% of knocking and having throwdowns in backyard, I must say I am extremely pleased with its rebound throughout the face of the bat, it seem to have a long middle. The ball travels good distance albeit it hasn't been fully knocked in. Whilst handle is round and nowhere like my preferred beloved Screaming Cat handle but I am getting immune to it and along it as I spend hours shadow batting and throwdowns in my backyard.

As usual exceptional service from BlankBats and the bat which was handpicked by them is even better, among the finest bats I have ever owned and have. My fourth bat from BlankBats and I can see myself knocking their door in foreseeable future.

Certainly will be my match-bat for the remainder of season, I have just played one game thus far.

Any question(s) feel free to ask.

Enjoy the pictures!

Now that is a very very nice bit of willow.

This forum is a pain in the rear. Every time I think my mind is made up as to which manufacturer to get the next bit of willow from a bat comes along and changes it.

I love it.The whole 'less is more' when it comes to stickers really works for me.

Still baffles me why a company called blank bats have stickers on their bats

Not that complicated really.

No stickers = Easy to fake & no advertising to the wider market/ folk who have not found this forum.
Stickers = Eliminates fakes/ any old plank being sold as a blank bat and provides advertising to folk not on the forum.

Now you know  ;)

That makes sense but they could have got another way to distinguish them like getting some engraving on the bat but then again they do look great anyway

Thank you guys.

The bat had 39 overs use against bowling machine yesterday, it responded very nicely and seem to have elongated middle, however, the sound of rubber on willow is no where near of leather on willow.

Seems like a very good bat and will go a long way.

It has trimmed quite significantly, now have 14 to 17 bats.

15th one being with handle cracks.
16th and 17th first bats which are there for nothing but due to history behind them.
