Title: Loose pads
Post by: Chriss5471 on July 09, 2014, 03:00:59 PM
I often find whilst running my pads come loose and slip about, occasionally it will be the velcro come undone but I just don't seem to get them to stay still, any advice on new ones?  I'm not a small lad at 6'4" so that needs to be a consideration.

I used to have the same issue. I find folding the back of the pants flat under the bottom strap provides more support and stops it slipping. As far as pads go, it's a question of budget, level of cricket and personal preference.

I have only had 4 pairs in 25 years and the best ones had Velcro inserts that allowed me to adjust the knee roll cup and insert for legs. Recently went for slighter set of GN x181 and they don't offer the same protection but are easier to run in.

Visit one of the sponsors shops and try some on.

My Salix pads are the best I've used for staying in place, very well designed...

Do you have skinny legs? I do and i hated pulling the straps too tight. I think it comes down to brand selection. Pick some pads that have short strap lengths and that are padded. That way, you can pull them fairly tight without discomfort and they stop slipping.

Almost the opposite I have muscular legs so when I run the muscles tightening tend to disrupt the straps!!
