The overseas club cricketers get for a season?
It's always intrigued me what clubs will pay an OS player.
What's the current rate for getting an overseas amateur at your local club?
-
How long's a piece of string?
It depends on the level of player and what else is in the package...
-
Anywhere from free (with accommodation) up to £10k if rumours are to be believed
-
Most I ever heard of was a then current West Indies test bowler getting £13k for the season in Yorkshire. There was a clause that he had to turn down County deals and International call ups mind.
-
I know a few who are £15k plus a season
Most are
In 6-8k or around 200 minus bonuses
-
Keswick's Sri Lankan pro is on £5k
-
One of the Aussies was asking for £20k a good few years ago.
Ended up playing county cricket that season and the Australia team a year later.
-
12k most I've heard in the NE.

How long's a piece of string?
Used to get me a detention everytime that question!
...... The answer ......
Twice the distance from the middle to the end
-
Wow, these are rather large sums of money just for one season.

Stupid and pointless waste of money
-
In many cases, not always though!

I know a couple of younger overseas at different clubs who get no money but get free board and lodgings one is required to take charge of coaching at his club and the other as to help out at his club bar duties etc

I played a pretty poor standard, Got flights, Cheap accom, and a full sponsored kit from Fearnley.
That was two seasons ago, was pretty happy with it mind you, got offered Flights, accom and 50 pound a week as well, but had already agreed my deal!

Which club was that for? Presuming you were in the Worcs league?

Rushwick. Got injured in about round 3 and could hardly bowl all season, felt bad though so tried to bowl through with stress fractures in my back, wasn't smart. :/
