I'm looking forward to acquire a G1 custom bat. My idea is to take the "base ST" shape and add some customization. The closest that I could get the "base ST" shape was original "Master" bat from M&H.
What are the thoughts of the people on the forum here for the bespoke experience with M&H, L&W, B3, or anybody else for that matter?
Thanks,
Jay

I presume you are based in England. If so are you near any bat maker? As your best bet is to visit and have your bat made in front of you. I've had a few bats from l&w and although they are great bats, after 6 months+ the bats seem to gain anywhere from 1-3 oz's in weight due to the different climate

B3. Top blokes and what they order is very unique

If you are not based in UK then B3 or H4L might be a good option, they will make you a custom bat. I heard mixed review about L&W from my teammates.
Most of the bat makers on this forum are easy to get in touch with and they will be happy to help you out.

I'd have a chat with Paul Aldred too...

Thank you folks for responses. I'm based off USA-San Diego.
With respect to L&W, I'm a bit apprehensive, not about their quality but lack of adherence to requested weight and pick-up, heard some mixed reviews on that.
Thanks Tim for Aldred recommendation, I almost forgot about that.
Also, does anybody have experience working with M&H to make a custom bat? How do they stake up?
Thanks,
Jay

I'd go an Aldred or an H4L...had bats from both and been hugely impressed.

I've done m&h and Aldred custom bats. I'd go with Aldred as the bats are better finished and better value for money, and Paul's service is better. The bats themselves were equally good.

I have to say the guys at B3 were brilliant when we we went my bats are amazing. as was getting a custom made via vitas, for top grade willow I think Vitas may prove a cheaper option.
-
A hunts custom from vitas would be a cheaper option
-
I would say b3 but them again I'm biased
Bar that a b52 shape I would go for
-
Your choice would depend on your budget as well. To throw in another name apart from the others mentioned, Rob Pack is another one you could think about.
-
i would go for L&W because I have recently purchased a bat from them after exchanging around 20 emails and the customer service is just fantastic. Most important what I feel, they know what you are looking for based on your style of play. Cheers!

B3 have always looked after me well. And have made me some great bats.
In fact I recommend them to all my teammates. And the number of b3 users there now is around 7
I've just ordered a laver and wood. So can update that when arrived.
I've used red ink, Rk and aldred from here. All worthy of making a great bat and too your speak at a much cheaper price point. As your not paying for the name.

Nobody mentioned Salix? Surely they should be on the list of possibles.
Expensive and great bats
MH
Salix
Value and great bats
Aldred
H4L
Can make ANY spec including weights to 0.2 ounce accuracy
B3

L&W weight can vary. My take on this is that their workshop is quite dry (in terms of humidity). I know that my L&W bat picked up weight once it arrived in HK due to the humidity here. Oiling helps but doesn't really fully seal a bat from moisture. So if you are in a relatively humid area, you may want to ask something about 1-1.5oz lighter. Funnily enough, all the bats I've purchased from the UK (mostly from IJC) don't tend to pick up any weight.
Since you are in the US, I believe you will get an extra 16.6% off with B3 and M&H as they are VAT registered. My next bat would probably be a B3...

Paul Aldreds bats are very very nice
Paul knows how to tailor a bat to your wishes, and all his willow is top stuff
My bat from him is exceptional
At least as good if not better than my two previous lavers
M&H seem to have lost the plot lately,,a teammate has just wasted a small fortune on a ck22 bat and it's a plank!
He's totally gutted as he's always used M&H
