Following on from the other thread.. How would you run sponsorships/discounts?? Would you just give it to everyone? Anyone at 'county' or playing ECB prem??
I personally would ignore people's level and target the guys/girls who are the most active at their clubs. So the people running Jnr sections, maybe the guys always at the top of their clubs charts. Aim would be the Jnr coach would market to all the kids and allow it to filter through each club.
Probably not perfect but I seriously question the pint of sponsoring minor counties and ECB prem types tbh.

Personally the 100% ideal 'sponsored' player for me would be:
Club captain/First team captain/Influential player
Coaches the Junior/Senior section
Willing to promote the brand to the club
Avid user of social media, willing to badger a bit on Twitter/Facebook etc
A bonus if being involved with a University side too
As mentioned earlier I have a few 'Ambassadors' for Neon - 3 of these in particular do a fantastic job at advertising the brand and spreading the name, the amount of bats involved sold purely from these 3 lads is astonishing, well worth the quite minimal discount they received in the first place. I have since rewarded them further but this was purely goodwill from myself as a way of thanks, it was never requested from them which means a hell of a lot to me and which is why I will continue to support them for years to come hopefully.
Yes someone companies will sell a bat to anyone but I'd rather not devalue my own brand in that way, I'm sure it has worked for some but I also know of a hell of a lot it hasn't worked for - I can name 6 people I know who've had Gecko sponsorships and I can count on 1 finger how many who would go back... there's a reason if it needs to be discounted to be sold.

Could a player at an ECB Prem club not satisfy all those criteria too?

Influence and credibility thats all that counts.
I see some people getting sponsored and then trying to sell the kit which, if they had to pay for it themselves, they wouldn't buy it ...... Why flog it to people if you wouldn't pay for it yourself!
I've turned down some offers because I do not want to put my name against certain brands and sell their kit because it is quite frankly, rubbish.

If you find someone who is the clubs regular top runscorer/has a bit of a rep of being one, and is involved with coaching juniors, is that not the ideal mix? Regarless of level.
Kids will be attracted to both facets, while seniors will more than likely follow too (perhaps a lesser degree), provided the player talks positively about the brand.
I find there is a lot of interest surrounding smaller brands. I would coach around 100 kids (13s-17s), many of whom like to think they know it all about bats, but whenever I showed them my rk, there was a lot of interest. Same in seniors when it was lent out.
It also helps smaller brands that society as a whole likes to be different/have something new

I like this model. If anyone wants to sponsor me the queue forms immediately o the right... :D
