Don't know if anybody saw the bouncer that did this but the footage is on YouTube if you're inclined to check it out - it's horrendous - the poor bowler looks mortified. He's tweeted a picture of the damage here:

If you've got an older style helmet it'll make you want to close the gap on that grill......
I would say that's him out for the season - and out of a potential England spot....

I too noticed the bowler, he is horrified isn't he!

It's the trickle of blood from his face onto the wicket that's the sign it's gone properly wrong

Wow, some grim pictures there. Reminds me of the injury I got when I was 16. This was before helmets really came in and I did mine just a few days after Mike Gatting's horror injury from Malcolm Marshall. I tried to hook a ball and missed. It hit me flush on the nose, pushing it back into my skull. A blood vessel burst and blood was just spurting out all over the pitch. I looked like that afterwards and the whites of my eyes stayed red for about 3 months. The only good thing was I had a large Roman nose before, but now I have one that some people pay good money to get!

kieswetter was back playing today got a few runs not sure what helmet he was wearing. ill keep an eye out on wednesday but not sure i'll get to see him bat

Kieswetter to miss the 2015 season as his eye hasn't fully recovered, feel for him and sure will reignite the debate on helmet safety particularly the older version of the masuri lid compared to the new version

still doesn't sound good for him. hope he can make a return at some point
