Title: Your match bat
Post by: cricketrob on July 30, 2014, 04:33:05 PM
I thought I would start a feed for people to post pictures and specs of their chosen match bat.

I know forum members usually own a huge amount of bats, I think it would be interesting to see which out of them all people choose as their match day stick.

Only used my Affinity Toro so far this season
750 runs so far this season in 12 innings
I only scored 200 all last season,,so I'm not gonna be using any other bat anytime soon

I'm currently using a £30 ebay purchase it is  a Mars cricket bat now stickered up as a duck and run LE to match my other kit. It goes like a train.

Still wanting to get my hands on a B3,
Only heard good things about them.

How does your blue room compare to other bats you've used, I've been considering one for a while would you recommend them?

I love it mate. it's fantastic, all my bats from Rob have been great. Just ordered one for a team mate today and one for myself. Just need a little patience as Rob is busy, Simon is off for a little bit so they are a tad bit slow responding to emails. Should be here in a week or 2 so will post pics.

This season I've scored 257 runs so far, which is my best season ever with the bat.  (For those who don't know I'm an off spinner turning into a batsman ;) )

My match bat is a Kookaburra Recoil 450 (2012 version) Love it to bits.  Never felt more confident or comfortable with a bat, feel like I can play any shot with it.

Scored my first ever 50 with it and looking to get at least 1 more before the season is over.  Had a few starts ( 2 scores of 21 and 33 each) so a little frustrating but it's coming along nicely.

:D

My current match bat.
Weight in it's current state, I have no idea and will probably keep it that way as it 'just feels right'

Do you bat against black cricket balls?

I've seen red, yellow, orange and green marks before but never that dark

Quite a few Aussie nets will have black conveyer belt rubber around the wire netting, this gets the ball grubby.

Had been using the B3 up until a couple of weeks ago when a large crack started forming in the toe.  I can't get it up to Nottingham for repairs for a few weeks and don't want to risk it being beyond repair, so I've started using the Bubble I got from Jake in the winter.

The B3, in its second season, is going phenomenally well, very forgiving and the middle is a joy to feel.  That said, I'm as happy with the Bubble which, unsurprisingly, still needs to open up fully but, again, it has a great middle and is getting very positive comments from team mates.  Very happy to have two bats that perform so well...

Yep exactly what skip said, good old conveyor belt.

Don't want to take the scuff off really, this bat has scored me loads of runs, don't want to change it

Get some nail polish cleaner pads off the mrs or a pharmacy they clean the scuff sheet pretty well, make it look brand new. Paul at IJC did a video showing how to do it.

There isn't an official one. Picks up extremely well though.

My match bat, weighs about 2.10-11.

It's an absolute gun, never used anything better hence it is my current match bat. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/01/ygu6a5eb.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/01/2e9a5eru.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/01/ybesy4a5.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/01/upy9ypu6.jpg)

Both 2.9 and grade one. Orange grip current bat and white grip will be her replacement when she is retired. No doubt the best bat I have ever used, this is her 2nd season and owes me about 2500 runs so far.

Tis the "dw" profile in 2.14.

Wed was the first time I'd used it due to damage on my other butterfly. I'd dint even bother to knock it in. Got 32 of 19 balls.  Before chipping one in to leg...... which turned out to carry all the way to midweek boundary to be caught!

It flies. Butterfly is the future.

The SS, Laver and 2 Helios closest are bats I use in matches. Laver (2.12) sees the most use, but SS (2.9) will be alongside it the main 2. The other 6 are replacements... seems like I have enough to last me 2 lifetimes!

All four of them are lovely, and supposedly pro bats. (Laver was a cleft good enough for a pro apparently) The Helios closest is actually a Bulldog, (2.10) and I think the red one (2.12) was actually from the TK pro bin.

Nearly killed her this year batting on a extremely wet pitch. The toe blew up to buggery and took a fair bit of bashing to get her back to normal. Hopefully get one more season out of her this year. Weighs bang on 2.9lb and picks up like a dream
