Could cricket feasibly make an appearance at the CWG's? I couldn't see it in the 50 over format or even maybe the T20, rugby has 7s maybe a 6 a side or a T10? Looking at the nations at the CWG it could be a decent competition. I've listed all the nations that could put a team out and there are many more that cricket is currently played in.

Turns out Cricket is a recognised sport by the CWG's but I imagine it's the format that would be a sticking point.
Would you like to see cricket as part of the CWG's? Would it be devalued as it's an armature comp? What would need to happen for cricket to be included? Will it ever happen?

If you can get lawn bowls at the CWG, I don't see why you can't have cricket.

I thought that cricket could work at the CWG too. Can't see it though as there isn't enough money to be made from it, and the big 3 will want to protect their 20/20 leagues

Yep I'm sure I missed a few more too. I also left out the likes of Canada, not known as a cricket nation but cricket is certainly played there.

Just researched this and it was in the 1998 CWG as a 50 over tournament but wasn't considered a success. If you look at the squads that played there are some massive names and certainly wasn't amateur.
Personally I think this is a great opportunity for the ICC to expand cricket and have it shown to an audience other than cricket lovers.
Because of the games (Olympic and CW) I have found myself watching many sports I wouldn't normally and really enjoying them. I reckon this would happen with cricket too. However it has to be done right, needs to be quick and grab the attention of non cricketers.

Could do it in the same format as the Hong Kong Sixes tournament.

If you were to go down the T20 route lets assume you had 32 teams enter. You could probably play 3 matches a day so would take 6 days to do a knockout and cut it down to 16. Another 3 days to cut it down to 8. 2 days to cut it down to 4 and then one more day for the final. 12 days overall so you wouldn't fit it in unless you had two venues.

You'd need a venue specifically for the cricket matches to fit it in however I would like to see it. I feel cricket it a bit exclusive to the larger traditional countries and doesn't give other nations a chance to compete with the likes of the best teams so would definitely be enjoyable. Maybe not allowing pros to play in the teams to make the tournament more interesting see some new names

They had cricket in Malaysian CWG , I think apart from South Africa all the other teams top teams didn't send the full strength teams.

i have a feeling this was discussed by the ICC not long ago and they said no. which wasn't a surprise
