Title: M&H Amplus G1
Post by: fasteddie on August 10, 2014, 11:33:12 AM
Has anyone got one?

I recently bought one, the Grade 1 version. 2lb 9, high middle, superb. My other bats had middles too low for our 'true' pitch.

It went from day one. Absolutely wonderful. Next stop is to wear it out and get H4L and Aldred to copy it in long blade format.

Anyone else got one?

Surely you ought to get another one from M&H?

I have had three M&H Amplus G1s now. Superb bats. No doubt about the performance. Absolutely top notch.

Pictures! Of course. How could I forget. I'll do some later when I can feel my arms! Heavy gym session.

My toddler has drawn a nice abstract in purple crayon all over the front. I might leave it there

M&H long blade. I would consider it if it where a reasonable price. I didn't pay anywhere near list for mine ;-)

One thing which I just love is the finish. It is flawless. What a bat!

A fair point. Pot, kettle and all that.  :D

I paid trade for it. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. I can't say where it came from because of that! You'd all be beating a path to that particular door  ;)

Used to have an m&h s6 long blade that was very nice, but soon discovered that the middle was too low. Liked it a lot and excellently finished.  Think someone off here took it off my hands.

So what's the difference between a SH and LH size wise?

Tim and I where talking about the long blade. Which, according to a trusted source, is around 1 inch longer, but, when you have a dicky back and are over 6ft it is required.

Consider it the bat equivalent of a walking stick.

I have an one. A bit of a surprise in that I bought it as my net bat and have used it in every outing nets/match/fishing ever since. It's a pure club of a bat that you can really attack and brutalise the ball with. Huge edges, and the high middle allowing you to go 3oz or so higher than what you normally would, so it's a great confidence booster too.

2'9 is a whopping waste though with such a high middle. I have a 2'14 and it feels lighter than any other bat I own.

I bought it because of the stickers (I like all my gear to match :) ) though would never recommend anyone thinking the shape is unique to M&H. It's just their/a 'high middle/big edges" bat. TK makes the same for anyone and everyone, it's not rocket science nor a secret only M&H know.

Mine was from the seconds bin owing to supposed storm damage (and no warranty). 3 years in and it's still in great nick and a great weapon.

I have a H4L made by Matt in the amplus shape. He made a few for an ex county player and mine is one that wasn't required. Decent bat.

I'm still sticking to SH even though I'm tall. But if I start getting back stiffness then I'd use long blade - makes perfect sense!

Have you tried BB? I have an amplus profile BB that's superbly finished and quality. It's another option as you get what is basically an amplus for a lot less money?
But another perfect option would be to see what Matt can do for you?

I was talking to Canners about a BB when this bat drifted across my bows.

The price sealed it for me. I figured, why not! A one off chance.

Heading up to Taunton tomorrow, will go have a nose around in the M&H shop although they are way out of my price range.
