Title: New ranges for next season
Post by: Marc28 on August 14, 2014, 12:39:04 PM
Just wondering what the Aussie and Kiwi lads reckon to the new ranges that are hitting the shops over there.

What looks a good set of bats pads and gloves,

Looking around at the minute I like the look of the xenon range and bubble 2 from kook and also the matrix range from grays.

What do you lads reckon could sell well and could make there way up here.

Thanks

I was in one of the specialty stores here in Brisbane only a week or two ago and was a bit disappointed with the quality of bats (Spartan wasn't in yet).

As for softs, the thing to remember is when you buy their gear, you are not only paying for the production costs, shipping costs and profit, you are also pay for the sponsorship of international players as well. When you buy the red square with 4 tabs, the bird or the cat, you are essentially paying Warner, Hughes, Wade etc. and this is factored into their price.

I've moved to trying to support smaller firms, as they rely on the quality of their product to sell them. This is a bit difficult in Australia though.

Two that I know of are Focus Cricket (FocusCricket.com), which feature in its own thread a few weeks ago. The other is a smaller company, Blue Dogs Sports (www.bluedogssports.com.au (http://www.bluedogssports.com.au)).

I'm personally using the softs from Blue Dogs. Their bats are made in India which I'm not that keen on. I'm using their highest quality gear, the Purebred Players range which I got on sale from them at the end of summer 2013/14.
I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but I like to support smaller business that rely on quality products and good customer service.
I did a review of their gloves (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-CNNQ3Sryk&list=UUeRT-htjZqoqUoKlDeL5Prg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-CNNQ3Sryk&list=UUeRT-htjZqoqUoKlDeL5Prg)) and have one to go up on their pads on my youtube channel.

I've found their stuff the same quality as the major brands 'test quality' labelled gear and you pay about 60-70% of the price.

Test match quality look, feel and protection gloves for $70... I'll have two pairs thank! Oh, I already did!
