Title: Dry bat

Hello all,

I have just purchased a brand new Gray Nicolls Predator Titanium from around 2006.

It's brand new but because of its age I can't be sure how it has been stored for the past 8 years.
It looks a bit dry so I'm guessing it has been stored in a heated warehouse or something similar.

Can I re-oil it to prevent it from braking or is it now past its best? The problem I have is that if I take the sticker off to give it an oil and sand, I can't get hold of any original replacement stickers...
What do you all suggest?

First of all, pictures or it doesn't exist.

Second of all, you could keep it in your shower room for a couple of days. The humidity should bring up the moisture levels up, but obviously make sure no actual water gets on it. Just oiling the bat isn't going to do much, oil/wax creates a barrier to stop the bat losing or gaining any more moisture.

Just oil any exposed areas. You don't need to remove any stickers.

Leave it in a bathroom for a few days then oil exposed wood

One of the reasons I love this forum is the speed of the replies!

I will try your suggestion of the bathroom.

Whats been stated is what you need to do when moisture levels improve apply two coats of  linseed oil which will nourish the willow.

I brought one of these when they were first available the sound off the bat took some getting used to due to the titanium in the handle.

I posted recently about sending a Powerbow LE off to the GN workshop to get a weight reduction and the Carbo handle fitted in a Harrow. I just love the feel of the composite handles.

My first proper bat was a GN Gladius Titanium and it was by far the best bat I have ever had.

I spotted this bat on ebay on Tuesday and sentimentality kicked in and I had to buy it.
